I have 12 hours to write 7 more pages. To most people, thats plenty of time. To me, not nearly enough. SIgh.................
Will you write my paper for me puh-lease????!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to garrett who reminded me of the hipness that i lack. He told me some 50cent songs to download, and frankly, i find them a bit boring and monotonous. I am soooo not cool.

In other news, meeting new people is fun! Today I met 2 new people, Sean at muirwoods, and Marcus at dinner, who were both pretty cool. Sean came in with this cool gourd with tea in it and was sipping out of a metal straw with a strainer at the end. It was the coolest thing i've ever seen. He said it was an argentina thing. I forgot what its called now, but if anyone knows what i'm talking about, please let me know, and also where to get one.

In other other news, i found out that Ali has a second cousin who resembles Natalie Portman, who is persian but lives in norway who just won Ms. Latin in Spain? I think he wants her, so i reminded him that more and more people are marrying even their first cousins now. Tee hee.

ok, call me stupid, call me out of touch with whats hip with the youngsters these days, but just call me, and let me know who this fifty cent character is. what does he sing, and why is he so popular? and why 50 cents and not...I dunno..75?

and damn whats wrong with the ataris website? why does it always freeze my computer when i try to go there? it's done it like 5 times already. does it do that to anyone else?
no one is blogging, due to finals.

my paper is still going nowhere, thanks to monty who distracted me all day. but i guess its my fault for trying to type when he's right there in front of me. silly me...

Starbucks has a table in front of their huge window which provides instant access to the world outside. Today I sat there watching the people scurry hither and thither under the downpour like little mice. Windows are cool.

I think i blogged about regrets once, and i can't remember if i said i had any or not. But i do have one now that my college career is over, and that is not taking violin lessons. I went to Paiviki, Janos' wife, to get my violin adjusted, and she is the nicest woman ever. And i sat there talking to her, wondering why i didn't take lessons with her, or even janos, sooner. And now i can't anymore, and it really pisses me off because i missed the opportunity. Arg...

Once again, it is paper writing time. You know what that means? That means i'll be bloggin alot instead of writing my paper. Hahaha. It's funny cause its twuuueeee.

In other news, my roommate kristin tried to poison me last night. Some roommate.

i am nervous about tomorrow night.
but by this time tomorrow night, it'll all be over. forever. good thing or bad?
Sometimes you just get to this point where the every day things around you have little importance. Like, the coffee we drink, or worrying about grades, or the people that won't walk faster across the street you want to cross. You stop and you think that there's so much more going on in the world, in the realm of nature and its complexities. So many things that go on that you don't know about, and will never know about. Events occuring around the world (and i'm not talking about the impending war) that can't be understood. Spirituality. Pi (and i'm not talking about the apple kind, but the kind that goes on forever and ever). Formation of languages. Thoughts going on in the minds of geniuses that we will never be able to grasp. Moments of love so intense thats going on right this second all the way across the world. Or maybe even next door. And i'm not talking about sex. I'm talking about passion, truth, desires for the other person....love in the traditional sense. Love that you can't possibly imagine because you've never really experienced it, even if you've had 10 girlfriends, or even if you're married. You stop and think about these things, and all of a sudden, other things don't seem so important anymore.
Let the ringing begin!

I went to a bar with jen tonight (i know, sunday night!! can i be cool now, puh lease??) to watch this band. And now my ears are ringing. Last time it didn't stop for three days. We'll see how long it'll go for this time. Chris, the guitarist, was amazing. He rocks out like a true guitarist....like a bad mofo. We have a class together, and he told me he's taken classes with Jason 3 times. 3 times!! I thought I loved jason, but this guy really really loves Jason! And maya, one of the singers ...such a pretty voice!
Le sigh....i wanna be a band whore, dammit!

I had a dream last night. It was my birthday, and sara surprised me all the way from OC with...Will Ferrell! Random, i know, but isn't that the way dreams go? But that wasn't the best part. After Will appeared behind sara, he was really excited, cause right then, Martin Scorcese appeared from behind Will! And as if Will knew i was going to say this, we both said in unison, "Oh my god it's Martin Scorcese!!" I was screaming like a little girl. And marty said his hellos and wished me a happy bday. It turns out sara had them for the day (for whatever reason, i don't know) and asked if they could come wish me happy bday in san diego. And ol marty had some business down here anyways so he came. But then he had to leave right away. I wanted him to stay til the next day so i could take him to class and show JP that marty and i were old buds. But he had to leave. I think it was to see JP anyways.
Yeah..random dream.

I think thats it. Other than,
taka taka taka taka taka taka takaaaaaaaaaaa

Wahaha.....

The blog queen that i am, i got the final roommate to join the blogwagon. Whoooo! You can now go inside Missy's brain right here. Haha, gotcha there. Go here. Or just look for her link to your lower left. No, the other left. Right.

Yes E, blogs discussing other blogs are fun.
What's not fun is when you go visit a blog that has not been updated in the past day or two...ahem.

Right now i have no desire to do anything. Nothing at all when really, there is so much to be done. I'm just going through my music collection and just listening. Right now it's Coldplay. Ah...so soothing. I just want to go veg on my bed and be surrounded by chris martin crooning me to sleep. Ah.....

How did i get so good at doing nothing?
I want to be a band whore.

I really do. Fox should come out with a show called "I want to be a band whore." People would watch that. I would try to go on that. Fox has done everything, why haven't they done this?? It'd be like american idol.......but better. With more talent. not to say that people on american idol don't have talent...dot dot dot...
Although i don't know if they can use the word "whore" on tv. But then again, we ARE talking about Fox, so nevermind.

JP totally embarrassed me today in class cause my cell phone went off. He asked to speak to the caller, and when i said i already hung up, he told me to call them back. It turned out to be Jen, but i thought it was son, so he ended up calling Son back, but he didn't pick up, which was a good thing. Although i wonder what JP would have said. I was really worried that he would make the caller cry. Oh that jp is so funny. Silly mongoose.

hahaha.....i just had a conversation with christine regarding blogs:

me: i on the other hand.......like to exhibit my lameassness
me: so everyone else can feel like they're normal compared to me
me: so really, i'm doing this for the good of the people
her: how altruistic of you
me: i know i know....i'm too much

see what i do for you people? see??

over and out.

Wheel!......................Of!.......................FORTUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wheel of Fortune is gonna be at our school tomorrow. Alot of things like this come to our school, and i've never really had an urge to be a part of it.....UNTIL NOW! It's wheel of fortune! Pat and Vanna!! I totally want to be a contestant and win some money, especially since i'll be unemployed in the future. Wahhhh. But I mean, all i'd have to do is guess some letters, buy some vowels, spin a wheel, clap my hands and say "big money, big money!!" right? That would be great.

The problem with that is i might be missing jason's class. And since i always sit in the front, he might know that i'm not there. I won't get to hear him sing his songs. I won't get to see him in his oversized sports jacket that makes him look like a little kid wearing his dad's clothes....hehe. And it'd be too unsettling to miss class, especially his class. And especially when we'll find out who won Carnival tomorrow. But i guess i can look that up myself. Maybe i can go have a chat with him during office hours. Explain to him that i missed class for a chance at fame and FORTUNE! Yes. He just might go for it...
dear internet void. stop.

jen's a trooper.

she's giving up coffee for lent...for the both of us. :-)

in other news: i think i'm addicted to movies. or rather, dvds. or rather, the thought of buying dvds. hehe....these are the things that go on in my head. i think of all the wonderful dvds i can buy when i have all the money in the world. i mean, not only would they be great movies, they'd be great movies that i'll have in my possession! well, the ones in my collection will be great at least. my theory is that by possessing great movies in my collection, somehow i can be part of that greatness too. or at least experience it over and over again.

there are too many good movies out there. and too many that i haven't seen. too many i don't understand. too many i love. what is it with movies? we can get into a whole conversation about this....but i'm tired of typing.

stop.

Many things to blog about, but i don't know if i'll blog them all.

First of all, I still have a slight ringing in my ear. More than 24 hours later! Is this normal?

Second, I saw the most beautiful film today called Central Station. It sucks that i had to watch it in the library, trying to hide myself at my little viewing station cause i was sitting across from some random guy i didn't know, getting all teary. But you guys definitely have to see this movie. This and Cinema Paradiso. Mmmm....both just wonderful.

Third, while at the trio concert tonight, i was thinking how cool it would be to play well, or even play the cello... or better yet, play the cello well, like yoyo ma! (no, not yo mama, yoyo ma!) Christine and i had a conversation about performing, and how frightening it is. And all of it just drives me further away from being Gwen Stefani. But then again, being in a band, you are playing with other people, so you're not completely by yourself, which wouldn't be so bad right?

Fourth, i had a really unsatisfying breakfast burrito at El Cotixan's, which seemed like the happening place to be last night. Not that it wasn't good, it just wasn't what i was expecting. So, just a forewarning for anyone out there who might consider ordering a breakfast burrito at El Coti: think about it. Hard.
However, to counteract that bad experience, i had some really good korean food tonight with christine over stimulating and interesting conversation, so i guess that makes up for the disappointing burrito.

Fifth, i hate not getting what i want. And yes, i feel like i'm reverting back to my elementary school days when i would whine and complain about such things, but, wouldn't you agree? Not getting what you want just really sucks. But i'm not talking about the materials things in life (even though i want those too), but i'm talking about other things you can't help or have no control of. And i realize, yea, sometimes theres just not much you can do about things beyond your control, but dammit, it still sucks nonetheless. And when i say this, i'm referring to so many things...

Sixth, i'm on the search for a record player. {{wicky wicky}} not necessarily a turning table (i've given up on that for the moment due to lack of space), but just a record player to play records on. if anyone knows where i can get one for cheap, or have one you'd like to get rid of, please contact me immediately.

Seventh, i'd like to give a shoutout to ken, who probably doesn't read my blogs anyways (but then again, who does!), for reminding me that i have a copy of cool edit pro. ah.......theres so much more i can do now. much love yo.

Eighth, its 9th week.....oh how the weeks are dwindling down.

Tenth: i really have no tenth, i just want to make this an even 10 list.

Over and out.

my ears are still ringing....is that suppose to happen?

i woke up to the tune of Rosemary in my head this morning....oy. And then proceeded to hear the ringing in my ear. Double oy.
so after all my whining and complaining, i did get to see the queens tonight after all. christine and i went after rehearsal, and made it. they were pretty cool. not exactly my type of music, but cool nonetheless. i was watching the drum player and just thinking how cool it would be to play the drums like he was. hard and fast. there was just so much energy put on the drum....i'm surprised that drumsticks don't break more often. the guitarists were cool too...fast fingers. i wished that my fingers moved as fast. i wish i was just a better guitarist. i love the guitar, i really do. i just need to get better at it though. oh, but i will. you'll see. you and gwen and yo mamas will all see!!!!! (no, not yoyo ma, yo mama!) when i become a rock star, you guys can all tell your friends, "i read her blog back when."
hehe.
its late, i'm off to bed.

Thursday, February 27, 2003

i like to write in code sometimes so people won't know what i'm talking about. but then later i think, whats the point? if i don't want people to know what i'm talking about, why blog at all? i don't know.

silly mongoose.

(i like to use mongoose, instead of just goose. i get this image of a mongoose with big buck teeth in my head. and its just funnier than a goose. not to say that geese aren't funny....but well...they're not.)
i have nothing to blog.

other than:
that i want to be in a band.
and that other people don't update their blogs as much as they should (yes, i'm talking about YOU!), leaving me with nothing to read!
and that there are two major events going on on friday, one of them being a free concert with queens of the stone age (how the heck did we manage to get them? AS must've shoved alot of money in their faces...), the other being a performance by the Tritones. Both of which i really really wanted to go to, but alas, cannot because of stupid rehearsal.
other than that,
I really have nothing to blog about

Tuesday, February 25, 2003

I went to yet another concert tonight. It was pretty cool. I now have a new found appreciation for the stand up bass. I've always thought it was ok. You know, some low notes here and there, but not as cool as the violin, and definitely not as cool as the cello. But it is actually quite a beautiful instrument, and the guy that was playing it was incredible. I've never seen anyone play the bass like that. It looked like he was dancing with the bass, and this is gonna sound wierd...but, it was as if he was making the bass sing. Doesn't that sound cheesy? Yea, i guess it does. Performing is a wierd thing, its almost like acting really. And i am no actor. My teacher wants me to smile with my eyes while i play (whatever that means), so that at least i look like i'm enjoying the piece. But how can i when the piece is so boring?? So boring....

Anyways...

I've realized that i've gotta start practicing hardcore in order to become a rockstar like gwen. She's years ahead of me. Better start dying my hair now too, so that it'll have some time to look naturally blonde by the time I become a rock star. Oh wait...gwen doesn't play the guitar...or does she? Thats ok, she's good at the singing thing, i'll be good at the guitar thing...(eventually)...and then we'll get together and collaborate....i'll be the next moby and eve. That'll make me mobeve. or, eeby, what have you.

Monday, February 24, 2003

So i watched no doubt last night....gwen stefani is sooooo hot. She has the total package. she always has so much energy, and always looks soooo good. she makes me want to be a rocker chic: guitar in my hands, platinum hair, cool outfits, people singing along to my songs.....the whole shabang. I LOVE GWEN. one of these days, i'm gonna be a rock star just like her. and then i'll invite her to cover my songs. until then, i'll just have to cover hers.

so this weekend over dim sum, i was trying to tell my parents about getting to see kevin spacey...
me: so i saw kevin spacey on monday.
mom: who's kevin spacey?
shuan and i: yknow, the guy from american beauty? usual suspects? you know?
mom: no.....
me: you know, he has this movie out called life of david gale, have you read about it?
mom: no.....
dad: which one is he?
me: what do you mean which one? he's the one that played the dad
shuan: you know, the movie that came out about the death penalty?
shuan and i begin to try to explain the movie.
mom: no...haven't heard about it
dad: which one of the three is he?
my mom and i look at each other
mom: what do you mean three, there's only 1 guy
me: wha??
and here comes my cuz to the rescue
yang: uh...i think he's thinking of american IDOL.
dad: yea, there's three judges, which one is he?
shuan and i: noooooooo, not american idol, american BEAUTY!
dad: oh. no, don't know him.

it went something like that.

In other news, i have 4 weeks left. :-(

Chee-po-ta-blay?

Ok, it didn't work. Why didn't it work dammit?

I think sometimes i can be really obnoxious. let me know if (or when) i am, i'll try to stop it.

One of these days, i'm going to do something really crazy. And then people will say, i can't believe you did that, you're crazy! What's a list of crazy things i can do?

This blog business is really a great idea. The people that came up with it should pat themselves on the back. Blogging is so distracting in so many ways. As is reading the blogs. I wish i had a guest book on my blogger so that i know who's all reading my blogs. I think i can count the number of people on one hand. Maybe 2. So if you're not on my hand, who are you?

And also, i think my blogs have been lacking lately. They used to be good. So, in order to satiate your thirst for my blogs, i'm going to redirect you to my archives. I think my earlier blogs were better. Just like my spelling. I used to be such a great speller. Now i can't distinguish left from right. How sad. (And yes, i know those two don't have anything to do with each other, i'm just trying to make a point here.)

Just go.
testing testing...i'm trying something new.
So on the way home today, we saw three pileups involving three cars each. Thats 9 cars, all smashed up, within like 2 blocks of each other. Crazy.

Monday, February 17, 2003

Why can't articles be written like a good book? Why do they always have to be filled with this crazy language of words like complexities of blah blah and distinct multi cultural blah blah blah ism enabling blah blah fundamentals and blah blah blah. Why? Don't they want us to understand what they're trying to argue? Why can't they write it in a way that is interesting? I mean, it can be more complex than something like: and the dood was like "whoa" and the chic went "yea huh" and he's all "whatever" and she's all "whatever." (although that would be kinda funny to read) But really....why can't people write in a way thats understandable? Just yknow, turn it down a notch.

Anyways, so i went and saw Kevin Spacey today in person, and it was just about the coolest thing ever. The movie was good, it didn't disappoint me, and Kevin (yes, we go by first names now) was so cool! He's so laid back and casual and smart and funny. And he actually looks like how he does in the movies. So, he's real. It was over all the coolest thing i've done in a long time. I think i've said that already. But, i haven't done many cool things lately. Jamie mentioned that i got to interview tiffany. But that was nowhere near as cool as this was, especially since i didn't even know who she was at the time. Hm...i think i'll blog about cool things i've done:
1. Going to the screening today and seeing kevin spacey.
2. Climbing Half Dome. All the way to the top and back down.
3. uhhh.......
yea....i can't think of anything else. You don't even know how long it took me to think up #2. There's gotta be more but i can't think of any...
ok
3. Actually finding the street where people streetrace and then parking and getting out only to run back to the car 5 min. later cause the cops were coming. hehe....that was cool.
4. hm....yes...back to the thinking thing again.......
oh right! i got one, but i can't actually list it cause not everyone knows about it. but several people do, and since no one reads my blogs except you, you might even be one of those people that know about it, so no use in saying it again right? but yea, that was pretty cool. hehe.
and yes, its a real thing, i'm not just making it up. i'm serious about my lists, alright?
and uh....since i can't think of anymore, i guess i will have to come back to this list. how sad...i can only think of 4 cool things i've done. there's gotta be more....

i love making lists. i like making a list of things i have to do and then checking it off. i also have one started for 100 things to do before i die that sara got me started on. and then theres my top 5's, list of movies i have to see, list of movies i liked, list of things i would get if i had the money, list of cd's i've still yet to get, list of things to do when i have leisure time, list of books to read, oh yea, and also a shitlist.
yea...lists are cool.

It's funny how my body knows that its Monday. Saturday and Sunday morning, I slept in, surprised at how late it was when i woke up, and practically had to drag myself out of bed. But this morning i woke up naturally, and early too. (well, early for a sleep in day anyway). I laid in bed and read my book for a while (my leisure book mind you, not my school reading, which, is so much more difficult to concentrate on than my leisure books...), and then got up to make some french toast with Sarah McLachlan (who, is really dangerous to listen to btw, which is why people should be careful when listening to her) and continued to read some more. However, now that i'm done with breakfast, i'm reminded of ALL the things i still have yet to do, the real reading i haven't read, the work i haven't worked on, the music i haven't practiced, and other headache stuff i cringe at when i think about them, which is leaving my body in panic mode. Maybe thats why i naturally woke up early this morning. It's as if my body knows. Well, of course my body would know, cause its my body. We share the same brain. Or sometimes, lack of it. sigh...
So now, i should stop blogging and get on with all the things i have to do.

Oh bullocks.

Blog blog blog. What to write about. My minds a blank.

So, in observance of single awareness day, i have decided to do absolutely nothing. Thats right. Well, other than work. Buggah.

Sometimes in life, you just meet people that are completely interesting to you, and you don't know why. The person's usually mysterious in some way, and the less you know about them, the more you want to know about them. Although, i'm sure, once you do actually get to know them, the mystery is gone, and they might not be so interesting anymore. Or, they can still be totally interesting. I don't know. It's probably best not to build someone up in your head, I've learned. Or you just end up setting yourself up for disappointment. So, they'll forever remain a mystery...but maybe its better that way? Maybe everyone just needs to have someone mysterious in their lives whom they'll never really get to know. Yknow, just to keep things exciting. You think?

Over and out.

i had so many things i was going to blog about...but after reading the non existent conversation i had with ephraim, in which for a couple minutes i really started to believe i had this conversation with him and just couldn't remember (damn you e!), i've forgotten all that i was going to blog....sigh....

it'll come to me though, don't you worry!

La Jolla is a very interesting place to live. There's so many people here from other countries. At least more than OC, or so it seems. Whenever i hear someone speak in french or italian (usually someone at the supermarket), i try to get closer so i can hear them. Today it was an old Italian couple at albertsons. I was in the soup and dry goods isle, when i heard the lady saying, "cinque, cinque." Thats when i made my move to get closer to them. I threw them off by pretending like i was interested in the contents of a can of old fashioned chicken noodle. off they went, in italian, and even though i could only pick out a few words here and there, i was interested in this couple enough to follow them to the next isle...hehe.
but then i didn't want to be too obvious so i stopped following them....until! i was checking out. i was about to get in line right behind them, except these two guys got there before me. but! then they got redirected to another checker, so SCORE! i was behind the old italian couple once again. the lady was in line while her husband went to get something else, and when he came back, he told her excitedly, "...ottantanove!" i think it was a can of beans. they were $1.89. hehe. so funny. and then, when the checker asked her if she had found everything ok today, she replied, everything is so much cheaper here! hehe. i'm laughing now as i replay the moment in my head. it was just too cute.

in other news:
I got an email today sent only to media majors about a free movie preview only for "serious film students." (whatever that means) So i go pick up the pass, already excited that theres a free movie. But, not only do i get to go see a free showing of The Life of David Gale, starring Kevin Spacey, Kevin Spacey is acutally going to be there!!! Its times like these when i love being a media major.
And i also saw someone today that i haven't seen in a while, who actually said hi, which really made my day. People just don't say hi enough anymore. I think i'll start doing it more.

Tuesday, February 11, 2003

Walking in the rain is serious business.

One might not think theres much to it, but, there really has to be some awareness going on when there are puddles around. Otherwise, you make a wrong move, and bam! you're stuck in a place where your next step is a huge puddle. And then your shoes get wet, your socks get wet, yaddy yadda...and after that its all over. You're stranded for the whole day wearing wet socks and shoes. And maybe wet pants cuffs too.

In other news: damn paper never decided to write itself. I mean, its done, but it was like pulling teeth! Like the comic book guy would say, I believe this could be the "worst paper ever."

monty has molted. i missed him eating himself, although kristin has video documentation. he is quite the crayfish. one of these days, i'll just leisurely glance in the tank, and he'll be lounging on his rock with a fat pipe in his claws, and other scantily clad female crayfish around, out of nowhere. haha. wouldn't that be great. i'm convinced that kinda stuff goes on when we're not around.
yessssss....

Are they kidding me?!?!

Ok, so while procrastinating some more, i came upon this list of things NOT to do on Valentine's day. I couldn't believe some of the things on this list.

#2: Don't be cheap. Valentine's Day should be the day that you celebrate your love for another person. "It's the thought that counts" is fine for Christmas, but it's the gift that counts for Valentine's Day. Some people try to say that they don't believe in commercialized holidays... and those people are usually cheap.

Now, is it just me or does that sound ridiculous to anyone else? If its the gift that counts, and not the thought, then how are you showing your loved ones your appreciation? By how much money you spend on them? Damn capitalist society! I've always believed its the thought that counts. As long as you try your best, shouldn't that count for something? Just like in IM sports. If i'm trying my best, does it matter how much i suck? Oy...but thats another blog altogether. And, according to this list, i must be cheap, cause i sure don't believe in commercialized holidays! Except for halloween...that ones ok in my book.

#9: Don't buy practical gifts. This is always a temptation for us married types. But blenders and vacuum cleaners (even with that pretty red bow) just won't cut it.
Who wrote this?!?! Practical gifts are the greatest! Anyone who knows me would know that I love practical gifts, and I'd love to get a blender or vacuum anyday! But then again, i guess this list is catering to the general public who looks down upon practical gifts, and not me, the cheap and practical Vday hater.

sigh...10:17pm. Paper still has not decided to write itself, instead, paper has made me its bitch, looking up tidbits of info in books, readers, and putting commas here and there. The great Bruce Lee once said, "The possession of anything begins with the mind." If i think about paper enough, will paper finally decide to write itself?

But first, i should probably stop blogging.

7:24 pm.
Paper has not written itself yet.
damn.

I just received 2 emails from 2 different flower companies telling me how i can be the first to buy roses for my honey.
as if my honey would want roses.

in other news, i have a paper that does not want to write itself. hours have gone by, and i'm still stuck on the first paragraph. and it doesn't help that kristin bought new fish for me to stare at. her crayfish monty, doesn't seem so happy about his new roommates. i have been watching their negotiations in dividing up the territory. although i didn't hear exactly what went on, monty didn't look too happy about the way the negotiations were going, and retreated back to his rock. i think mike and ike were offended by his abrupt decision to end negotiations, and so began taunting monty by invading his territory. mike even went as far as to touch monty. it might have been a challenge to fight, who knows.

this is what a conversation between the two sides might have been like:
mike and ike: what are you, chicken?!?!?
monty: no, crustacean! you stupid fish.

it also doesn't help when guitars magically jump into your hands. those sneaky bastards. its as if they know you have a paper to write.

so this blog will now come to a full circle with me emphasizing once again,
damn.

Note to self: No coffee before playing for Janos!!! In fact...no more coffee. At least, no more than 3 a week. Yes.

Monday, February 03, 2003

Right now i have lots of reading to do but i don't want to do any of it.
It's 5th week, and i can't remember what i did with my 3rd or 4th week.
I believe this is what they call......SENIORITIS.

The dreaded Vday is coming upon us. Everyone will be gone, off doing their couple stuff. Who knows what i'll be doing. Lots of vegging and movies probably. Mmm.....moovies and vegging....what a good combo....and some good take out food. And a 3 day weekend. Woohoo! It might not be so bad after all.

SHAZAM!
I spent part of my morning today trying to convince my dad, who was informed by my mom, who was informed by my sister, that Austin Powers and Dr. Evil are indeed played by the same person. That took a while. And then it took some more time to convince him that Fat Bastard and Goldmember are also played by Mike Myers.
Dad: why don't they tell people these things?
Me: because its common knowledge dad.
Dad: did you know? or did someone tell you too?
Me: no dad, everybody knows. they all look like mike myers!
Dad: but (looking at dr. evil) his head is bald.

I think after watching the movie a bit longer, he started to believe it. Me thinks he was quite amused!
And as my sister keeps mentioning... I love GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD

Other weekend news:
I almost bought a pair of turtles in chinatown on saturday. I was this <-> close! But then i was informed of all the diseases that they carry with them, therefore, i wouldn't be able to pick them up and play with them. I would've only been able to watch them through glass. Thats no fun. So, i didn't get the turtles.
Turtle turtle.

My sister also got me Le Petite Prince book in French. That'll help me brush up on my french. I hope i can understand it. I've never read it in english. Speaking of books....i think my library books are due...yikes.

On Fox today, there were 2 back to back episodes of the Simpsons, both of which highlighted Marge. People have said I'm like Marge. I think cause i laugh like her, i can't remember. But today, marge had a six pack, well defined musles, and huge knockers, all within the hour! Crazy.

It's wierd when you talk to someone you haven't talked to in a long time. Sometimes, you're sitting there thinking, everythings changed. And other times, you're sitting there thinking, nothing's changed. I'm not sure which one i like better. I guess it depends on the circumstances. In any case, i know i've changed. But i guess everyone does. Or, sometimes not.

Blah blah blah.
Sometimes you should really just tell me to shut up. Capite?

Regrets

I know one mustn't live life full of regrets, which is why i try not to have any, but there is one in particular that has come up as of late. That is, why can't i be good on my violin. Why do i (for lack of a better word) SUCK as a musician? I always hate telling people how long i've been playing the violin when they ask. (which translates to: don't ask me how long i've played) I think its just other musicians' way of sizing you up. Cause thats what i do. But for me in particular, you can't really judge how good i am based on how many years i've been playing. It would not be an accurate measurement.

I met this guy mike on the shuttle today. He had his violin with him, which is how i started my conversation with him. From what he was telling me, he must be a great violinist. And then i got to thinking, why am i not better than i am? And the only answer i can come up with is, I'm not passionate about it. I like playing it, but there is no passion there. But does that make a difference? Does that matter? It must. I think, if i was passionate about my violin, i would practice more, i would care more, or maybe even care less about how good i am, or should be. Non lo so.

My prof. says i have to play the piece with more feeling. "It's suppose to be happy and lively!" says he. But how can i when i find the piece utterly boring. Fake my enthusiasm? I guess i will have to. But i've never been really good at faking things.

Realization #538: I don't take criticism very well. Some people do, some people don't. Sometimes i wonder how i can possibly be a vis arts major, because you're being critized all the time, constructively or otherwise. I would love to be someone else watching me when i'm being criticized by someone. I would laugh at me. I think (and i can only speculate having not actually seen myself in action) that i make this face (which i don't mean to, but my face just contorts on its own) that spells D-E-F-E-A-T. Whether i'm really hurt by the comment or not, i can always feel myself making this face uncontrollably. Anyways, i can get into this but i won't, cause you're bored. You must be, cause i am.

Ok kids, what did we learn today?

Give sh a whole day, and she'll get nothing done. Give sh 3 hours, and she'll get everything done.

Cappish?

In other news, my film is now up at www.stripedhat.com. Go there, watch it, be merry. I think I shall be updating my webpage soon, so look out for that.

And now its time for.....
Realization #259: There are people who actually read my banters, at least more than i realize.
If that is really the case, then i should use this ability to reach the masses only for good, and evil sometimes.
I wonder what it takes to get your blog up on the Blogs of Note list. Maybe just by writing about it, I will get on. And then it'd be cool to actually read this blog...
Maybe all those people have interesting things to say. Maybe i should make my blogs more interesting. But then again, this IS called Daily Banterings, and i should just adhere to my own title by bantering.

I'm starting a list called "Phrases I've heard people use which i'm going to steal because i like them so much."

1. Middle brow cretin. Ex. You fuckers, you're just a bunch of middle brow cretins. As used by JP in every class in a variety of ways.
2. Obligatory woo. Ex. Now the audience is just giving me obligatory woo's because they pity me. As used by Jimmy Kimmel after a failed joke attempt?
I think i will put this on my website, so go there for more phrases. How do you get there you say? Just click on HOME! It's right there, to your left. A little higher up. Yup. There.

As the weeks quickly pass by, I'm reminded of how quickly this quarter, my last quarter, is coming to an end. It's quite sad to know that i won't be around next quarter with all my friends. What will muirwoods do without me? Who will make drinks for the people (that is, other than cady, jen, cynthia, kate, rachel, and adry)? I know i have to move on, but whenever i have fun with my friends, i sometimes can't help but think about how much i'll miss them when i'm gone.
I'll miss the nightly parties in THE single room with Cady.
How will Kristin and I have our weekly hot saturday night dates?
Who will i go to for an answer to everything if Missy's not around?
I won't get to pretend like we're going to do school work when Stacia's around.
I won't get to be amazed by Sehan's ability to speak italian better than me even though we had the same class....damn him.
I won't be able to try to absorb Jen's intelligence by standing close to her (she still doesn't know i do this, shh.....)
I won't be able to have jam sessions with Chris.
I won't be able to hear Rudi's philosophical answers to life.
I won't be able to play a game of grass with Ephraim.
I won't be able to be amazed by Christine's ability to play violin so much better than i ever will and balancing that with her ability to make me laugh with her funny sarcasm, which I'm still working on...
I won't be able to hang out with angel, who's been gone for so long.
And of the 11 roommates i've had, Dina will always be my first.
And ken, who seems to know just about everything, and who will probably be my boss someday, where's he gonna find another partner as cool as me?
What will memory guy do if he can't quiz me on his daily orders?

Sigh.
I will miss them all. And so many others who i've come in contact with who I'll probably never see them again. Its so sad.
Sometimes i wonder if i should stay the extra quarter, and stay with my friends and what is familiar.
Like Mr. Elliot says,
"Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse."

It would be so easy to change my mind. But then i'm reminded that life must go on.

It's wierd when you run into your professors on campus when theres no one else around. Somehow eye contact is made, and everything becomes really awkward. This has happened to me twice, today being one of them.

The first time this happened was early morning, before an 8am class. I was coming from one direction and my professor the other. I quickly realized we were about to converge on the same path towards class, and thus, slowed down my pace. But that didn't work, cause soon i was walking behind him and he probably sensed me there. So we said hellos and ended up walking together to class. Boy that was awkward professor moment #1. First of all, i knew things about his private life that he didn't even know i knew. And because of this knowledge, i didn't particularly look up to this professor even though he seemed like a nice guy. (This knowledge also kept me from paying attention in the class because i just couldn't respect him knowing the things that i knew, therefore i didn't do that well in the class where others may have excelled. Now, you maybe be saying that maybe SH just slacked off or didn't work that hard in the class. That may be the case, but i still think the first reason had something to do with my inattentiveness.)

Anyway.

So today i had awkward professor moment #2, but this time i actually really like this professor. He's this awesome musician who is just so incredibly into what he's teaching and is one of those professors who really wants you to learn what he's trying to teach you. So, again, we were about to converge on the same path, made eye contact, and then said our hellos.

"Are you in my class?" he asks. Yes. He recognizes me!

So, i tend to blurt out stupid irrelevant things when i'm nervous around people, and seeing how i was in this wierd situation, I stupidly blurted out,
"Yea, so i tried going to your office hours yesterday but i couldn't find the room."
Now, after replaying the situation over in my head, i've come to realize that that was a piece of information he really didn't need to know. He had mentioned about 25 people went to his office hours last week. Apparently, they're smart enough to find it. (But i swear, i circled the building so many times and couldn't find it.) So then he's like, "well, where are you going? I can show you right now." And since we were going in the same direction anyways, i followed him to his office. He actually asked for my name, which I wouldn't be surprised if he asks for again, but I thought it was cool he did. And then, you know, walking to his office is more awkward time with him, so i again stupidly blurted out this book I read that I wanted to tell him about because it slightly related to what we are learning in class. Man, can we say nerd? So we get to his office and he's like, ok thanks for the book recommendation. And as i'm leaving, i was thinking what a stupid thing that just was cause i really doubt he remembers the author's name or the title. Not that he's incapable of remembering, just that i didn't make it sound interesting enough for him to care (cause the book is about aliens and the future, and even as i was describing the book to him, i realized i sounded so childish, talking about aliens and whatnot, but it's suuuch a good book!)
So goes the end of awkward professor moment #2. But i can happily say that #2 went better than #1 because I genuinely love this guy and his excitement and energy he has in class.

Maybe i can think of more intelligent things to say to him in the future.

Over and out.
j'ai eu un idee interressant: si je parle comme ceci, il n'y a pas un personne qui comprends! Mais, pas parce que j'ecrive en une langue different, mais parce que ma grammaire est trop horrible que ne personne peut comprends!

anche, ho fame, devo andare a letto....ora!

It's cool that Superbowl is in SD this year, but man....i feel so confined. I'm afraid to go anywhere this weekend in fear of huge crowds and traffic wherever i go. What if i have a sushi deli craving this weekend? I won't be able to just casually drive downtown. (mmmm..sushi deli....dammit!) I've been seeing lots of limos around lately, and i always wonder who's in it. The two teams come to san diego but stay in la jolla, where both hotels are only minutes away from our apt. And it's kinda exciting to know that somewhere in town, gwen stefani, sting, and the "greatest zinger in zee wurld" is lurking about. This weekend should be interesting.
Ok, theres been talk that i don't post enough anymore (or at all rather), so here i am, once again.

You know that scene in A Christmas Story where Ralphie's teacher assigns the class a theme? And then Ralphie goes into this fantasy where his teacher is grading all their themes and is just mortified with everyone's boring themes and is just about to give up when, whats this? she gets to Ralphie's theme, and she's reading about his Red Ryder bebe gun, and its the greatest thing she's ever read, and she stands up and announces to the whole class what a great theme little Ralphie has written, and writes "A+++++++++" on the board, while everyone in the class is cheering Ralphie on.

Sometimes i think i'm a little like Ralphie. I let my imagination get too carried away, to the point where i start believing that my fantasies would actually come true, that I would write the greatest theme in the world, and that my classmates would actually carry me on their shoulders and parade me about the classroom.

It's funny cause it's true.

And man.....i love when they play that movie for 24 hours straight on TNT or whatever channel it is the week before xmas.

I'm not boring, I just look like it.

So today was my last day with the third graders. They were all so cool, they all wrote me a card saying what they learned, etc. So one of my students, Brienna, wrote: "...when I first saw you I thought you were going to be boring but no you weren't."
No joke.
It's good to know that I only look like I'm boring. Boy, i can't wait to have kids of my own. Then i can bore them to death with my looks.
And yes, that was my crack at sarcasm. I'm still working on it...

And on an even more depressing note: Chipwiches are no longer sold at my local Savons store. I vant...I vant....I vant tu cry......

I saw Lord of the Rings last night. I think it was the first time that i've actually gone to catch the early early 12am showing of anything. not even star wars. but really, who cares about star wars anymore....they've ruined it with the prequels.
It was quite a stressful movie. I think a year has been taken off my life because that movie stressed me out so much. it was good, don't get me wrong. but...war is not a very settling idea. especially when theres 10,000 against a couple hundred. and the whole movie itself is just very dark and grim.

Today was the first day in a really long time that I slept in past 10am. It felt great. I'm looking forward to more of these days to come.

I saw the perfect ad today.

It said: DJ Turn table for sale.

It was all pretty new equipment, he was going to sell the stuff for $150! I couldn't believe it. But then i had to think rationally. I have neither the space, nor the money right now to spend on such extravagence. Would be nice though. I also had the idea of going parasailing lined up since summer, so that should probably happen before this dj business.

I can't wait til I have my own place. The things i can do! It'd be like my own studio. In one corner would be my music corner. I'd have my violin and guitar there, and a keyboard. Next to that will be a big table with my 2 computers: a Mac and my PC. Mac for my media stuff, PC for everything else. I'd have 2 monitors, a tv, vcr....and Final Cut Pro. Then I'd be able to do some serious editing with all that stuff. Somewhere between my music corner and my computer will be my large boombox. I'd have surround sound, speakers all around the room. Then, on the other side of my computer, will be a shelf for all my tapes, vhs, mini, dv, and whatnot. I'd have a special place for my special camera. In the third corner, I'd have my art supplies: a large easel, canvases, clay, etc. And the last corner would be my turntable.
And a pinball machine. My initials will be on the Highest Score.
Right by the window, i'd have one of those nooks. Those things with the little seat by the window. Then I can sit by the window (facing the ocean and sunrise of course) and read while listening to my music on my surround sound speakers. Ah...........that would be nice. If i had the money to get and do all that. But space...space is very useful. Lately I've been finding that i have no space. I can't wait til i can lay everything out and just leave it out. I can put my guitar on my guitar stand and not have to put it back in the bag. I'd have a place for a big keyboard.
Oh, and i can't forget about the bed. I'd get a queen size bed. Ok...that might be too much...maybe just full. Right now the twin just ain't cutting it for me...my feet keeps hitting the boards.
And a closet where i can actually see my clothes. That would be great.

Wishful thinking sucks. I can't wait til I can do all this. I'd invite you all over.

I think i'm going to start a dvd collection. I have started already actually, and i love my small yet wonderful collection. It's got some good ones. My goal will be to have a collection of GREAT movies. And some adam sandler here, some chick flick there.

And it will be good.

Dear Friends.

I return from my long absence. I could catch everyone up on what i've been doing, and go off about the last couple weeks and go on this big cathartic rant and cleanse myself of all that was crazy this quarter...but i think i shall save that for another day.

Today, i'm going to talk about something dear to my heart: action movies, and how they piss me off.

Yes, today we are talking about pet peeves and how they curdle my blood and make me rather irritated. Like most girls, I'm a softie for chick flicks and love stories. Action flicks though, not so much. And all this time i thought it was just a girl thing, girls just don't like action movies, right? Wrong. I don't like action movies for a reason that is all my own.

Over thanksgiving, my family and i went to see Die Another Day. It was my first James Bond movie. And well, without getting into too much about what i thought of the movie itself, i will just tell you why i don't like action movies in general: BIG UNNECESSARY EXPLOSIONS.

There were nice cars everywhere. Nice buildings. Nice everything (as is typical in a Bond movie, i would imagine). But why do they always have to blow everything up? Or crash into everything? All thats running through my head when i see these scenes is, "who is going to clean all that up?" In the movie's story/plot itself, and in real life. Don't people know that blowing things up makes 1 car into many many tiny little pieces? A perfectly good car, gone. And then after the movie's over, after hours of cleaning up (they probably don't even get paid that well, whoever cleans it), the tiny pieces get thrown into the trash, adding to our already overflowing landfills. Don't blow up the car, just give it to meeeeeeeeee!!!!! People in Africa are starving, and here we are, blowing up cars for no reason. All for what, 2 hours of entertainment? We're polluting our earth with unnecessary trash with money that could be used elsewhere. Money that could be used to make a better movie! Le sigh.
Damn you Hollywood!!!! Damn you!!!!!!

My other pet peeve are those old Disney cartoons with Goofy in them. But i've already ranted on about that. If you really want to know, refer to archive: Tuesday, July 03, 2001.

I just had an incredible dinner.
Korean food rules!

Tuesday, November 26, 2002

I found the motherload of all jackpots today.

I was sitting in MW when suddenly i look up on the Book Exchange Shelf, and someone had left a big fatty White Oleander book there!!! After trying to look inconspicuosly to my left and right to find nobody even paying attention to me, I slowly got up from my seat, and quickly grabbed the book off the shelf. I coulnd't believe it. White Oleander! Big fatty! And someone had just left it there!! I tried to contain my excitement in case someone heard me and wanted a piece of my great find. Mind you, I wasn't stealing. It's a "book exchange." And even though i technically didn't exchange it for another book, I will put it back.
As soon as I finish it.
So there.
So i just got home from yet another late night shoot. It didn't go so well today, we were kicked out of our location early. Hopefully we have what we need. But, its funny, Ken and I have been getting up so early and going home so late these days, and sometimes it's just kinda cool to see the early morning sun rise, and a usually busy freeway with no cars except for the one we sit in. Everything is so still and quiet, especially the early mornings where you can just tell its going to be a beautiful day. And then I wish the rest of the world can witness this with us, but if they could, then it wouldn't be so still and quiet now, would it?

Jen and Ephraim

These two crazy goons make me laugh.

Jen's this beautiful light hearted girl who spreads her infectious and very distinct laugh everywhere she goes. Whenever I see her she's always smiling. Just think Sunshine, and that is jen. One of these days, jen and i will make scrambled egg nog for all, and spread nog cheer throughout the kingdom. Huzzah!!
Ephraim, the actual "crazy goon" of the duo, tries to buy my love (successfully!!) with mint chocolates, and games of Grass, which I am most grateful for. And although he tries to steal my blog titles, his blog will always be ever more poetic than mine, for that boy has a way of writing words that are as beautiful as he. I accept your challenge!! Bring it on, I say. LET'S BRAWL!

If these two get any cuter, I may have to take serious action. Although they do fight over me from time to time, there is only so much SH to go around, which I'm sharing with the guy that will help me top Jen and Ephraim's cuteness. Oh, its on alright.

Friday, November 22, 2002

I've finally finished THE book.

It took me forever, but its done. And now i need someone out there to read it too so we can have a heated and passionate discussion about the beauties of this book. Of course, i guess i'd have to return it to the library first so that you can read it. I feel this need to discuss it with someone.

Anyway, so now i'm on to Pablo's suggested book, Ravelstein, which hasn't gotten me hooked yet. I don't know if its my type of book. But, i'll still give it another couple more pages. Hopefully it'll hook me soon.

Monday, November 18, 2002

There are not enough hours in a day.

My friends, i will be out of commission for a while. Between 2 jobs, 4 classes, artsbridge, homework, and trying to do this movie, I have not had time to do anything. Also add in a couple hours for sleep and eating (muy importante), my hours go by before I know it. I haven't even had time to watch tv. I don't know whats going on in the world. I'm behind on my Gilmore Girls, which, I hear, is pretty intense. No time no time. So, here i am, with 10 min to spare before my next class, I blog you one last blog for a long long time. I hope everyone is well. Drop me an email if possible.

Still trying to finish my book. I know i know, it's been so long. But, i can only squeeze in a couple pages here and there, now and then. Hopefully next time i blog, it will be finished. I have another book waiting in line.

I hear this blog thing is spreading. It's nice to see people blogging.

Gotta go, time for class.

I bid thee all a nice day/week/month.

Did you know SHAT is that past tense of SHIT?

As in, that bird shat on that dood's hat. Or, William Shatner. (Shitner, if you will) Ain't that a funny word? Shat, that is, not shitner.

Anyways, that seems kinda random, but i just read the word in the book i'm reading. Yes, still the same book about the musician guy. Which, btw, is taking me forever to finish. Although its still pretty good. He's going crazy now cause he can't have the girl, so now everything's in this wierd trippy poetry writing mode. Kinda cool.

I always get things by default.
In HS, when we had elections for class positions, I always won cause nobody ran against me. And then when they did, I lost (damn that Lonnie Miller. But then again, he did have a handicap. Not in the physical sense, in the "he was blonde and goodlooking and lots of girls like him" sense, thus already allowing him more votes than me before we even started! But its all a popularity contest anyways right?) Winning by default has its goods and bads. On one hand, you get what you want. On the other hand, there's no competition, so you're not winning based on your merits, which you can potentially have. Anyways, i had more examples, as well as a point when i brought this up. But now i can think of neither.
Shat.

All of a sudden there is this jumping on of the blogger band wagon.

My brain and my fingers don't connect fast enough. Either that or my fingers are just too slow. Theres all these fast notes i have to play, but my fingers just won't go fast enough. But, i can type fast. Why can't i play fast?

I've come to realize that music people are so......ostentatious. Well, not all, but let's just say alot. They're all so, "i'm such a great musician that i have to answer all the questions in class even when they're not asked for." They're like 5th graders sometimes, trying to be the teacher's pet. It's so annoying. If you're one of those people, STOP IT! Stop it i say. Especially violin people, it seems like. They all just want to show off about how great they are. Yawn. BORING! ANNOYING!!

Tuesday, November 12, 2002

Wahahahaha........

I've recruited 2 more people to blog! I am the blogger whore!!!! Ok, not really.

Geez, i've been so busy trying to plan this movie with ken lately that i haven't had time to blog. But it'll be good, just you guys wait.
And dang, why is it that whenever i want to blog nothing good comes to mind, yet when i'm suppose to be paying attention in class, i think of good things to blog, only to forget them during crucial times such as now??!?!? Why!??!

Honk if you loooove Rod Stewart.

I came home to find my two crazy roommates with so called "juice" in their wine glasses. And now I can hear them outside the room giggling. Must be some good juice. ;-)

Ah.....so much i want to write....but no time......will be back later.

Sigh....

Halloween is just a day for girls to have an excuse to dress up as skanks and hos, and for guys to live out their fantasies of having boobs by dressing up as women.

Wednesday, October 30, 2002

We take our hearing for granted. We really do.

This guy always comes in and orders a small coffee. He's deaf, so he always gestures everything. One of these days I will sign something to him. It's funny, cause right now i'm reading Vikram Seth's: An Equal Music. Angel had recommended another book by the same author to me, but i couldn't find it in the library, but this one was, so i got it instead. I've never heard of this guy or this book, but I really enjoyed it once i started reading it, and thought what a great coincidence it is that the main character plays the violin and is in a quartet. It's about this violininst Michael and his past and present, etc. Michael is in a quartet, so in this book they refer to so many musical things that I would never have understood if i hadn't played violin before. The way he describes things, I totally know what he's talking about. For instance, he described one of his performances, how he doesn't know or even realize that he's started playing, and when he does, he's not really paying attention or thinking, his fingers are just like on autopilot, and before he knows it, he's finished playing. That is how I felt when i used to perform in front of people (and driving, among other things...but that is a whole other topic, hehe). I can totally relate. And it was kinda comforting to be reading this and to know that other people go through what i go through. This book is so detailed with musical references that Vikram MUST have been (or still is?) a musician himself.

Anyway, to get to my point. (BTW:if you do plan on reading this book you might not want to read anymore of this.) In the book, Michael ends up having an affair with his now married ex girlfriend. Julia is also a musician. A couple chapters ago, he found out she is going deaf, which is pretty devastating for a musician. But she is able to still play with a group from remembering what certain pieces sound like, and because she can feel the low bass notes and whatnot. But where I am now in the book, she is deciding she will no longer play with groups, because her hearing is almost completely gone, and its getting more difficult for her. So i'm reading about this woman whose whole career depends on her hearing that she is almost completely losing, and then this deaf guy comes in and orders a small coffee, and I think, I'm so lucky I can still hear my precious cds and mp3s, and everything else in the world.

This inability to communicate with him frustrates me too, because he tips me pretty well, and he seems like such a nice guy, and I just have so many questions to ask him. If only I had taken some sign language...

CRAZY

Ok, so today, i go to my 4:00 class, where my professor Minda, starts talking about this movie she saw over the weekend. Then, she starts listing the 5 movies she wants to see, one of them being Heaven. So, she's talking about it, and in mid sentence she says, "it's starting at 4:30 at La Jolla Village if you guys want to see it. if we leave now we can make it." Everyone looks around, not sure whether she's serious or not. But she's serious alright. She says, "yea, we'll walk there, i know a shortcut." It's the way i walk everyday to and from school, and I never considerrf it a shortcut! Anyway, so a group of people start walking, others head for their cars. I hitch a ride with Juan and Ken, and by 4:25, we are in my hood, AKA La Jolla Village Center- woot! I even had time to run upstairs to pee and get some cookies (in that order too, not at the same time)! So, within a couple minutes, most of the class and Minda arrive, and we all go in and watch Heaven, which btw, is a pretty good movie. Afterwards, we all meet outside, and Hilary asks me, "so...are you walking back?" Meaning: to school.
I reply, no...i live right here. :-) I love that.

So let me sum up: I didn't have class, the class went to the movies instead. I got a ride to the theatre, which meant I didn't have to walk home. And the movie was half in Italiano, so i practiced my italian. What a great way to end the school day!!!!

And btw, for those of you who aren't clear, watching this movie is class related. We have to write a film journal about it. We're discussing it on Wednesday. So its not like we just picked up and left for the movies.

Actually.....that's exactly what it was like...

The Ozma concert last night was pretty good, although not their best. I dunno, something was wrong the whole night, something with scheduling, and i think it effected everyone's performance. Not that they weren't great still though. So i was in the mosh area this time, and boy does it get hot in there. Somehow though, i slowly got pushed out. Not that i minded. My few minutes in the pit was enough for me. It was alot of fun, but i don't know if i can go for a whole performance in there. And plus, being pushed out of the pit allowed me to get closer to Jose's side of the stage. That boy can rock. He does it very well. I went up and said hi to him and told him I was Cady's roommate (they went to HS together). I met him last time when Cady introduced us, but he didn't remember...what's a girl to do? It got kinda awkward, i didn't know what else to say to him. What do you say to someone who's probably heard every compliment from fans already? And just as i left him, two girly girls came up to him and said "hhhhiiii....you remember us?!?" And i just thought, i'm not cut out to be a groupie, and proceeded to smile to myself.

Anyway, their penultimate song was Baseball, dedicated to the angels who won last night and THE WORLD SERIES TODAY!! YAY! It was great, everyone was soo into it. It is also one of the few songs i know all the words to, which makes it even better. I really love their music, but just don't know as many songs as i should for being the fan that i am. It was a good concert over all, but they played too many new songs. :-(

This guy Ryan came into work today and said, "You should work here everyday!" It was in reference to the music I was playing. I love when people love my music. For me, its such a big compliment when someone tells me I play great music. That kind of stuff is very important to me. This other girl said once, I love coming to study here cause you always play such good music. Things like that just makes my day. It's nice to know my musical tastes are being appreciated.

On a related topic, I figured out today that the Smashing Pumpkins make people happy. I played my Rotten Apples cd, and people just seemed to be enjoying themselves. Or maybe they were just feeding off of my vibes because SP makes ME happy...? Hm...i dunno....but that is a damn good cd, you guys should go out and get it.

I miss the SP. Although I wouldn't say I'm a diehard fan like some people are (meaning, I don't know all of their songs or all the lyrics to them, nor the names of the albums they have out or how many they have out). However, I really enjoyed their music. I still enjoy it. I have this poster of them from their Tonight Tonight video (which I LOVED! There was just something about that video....) that I got for my birthday a while back. Theres a big rip in it now and its kinda getting old....but I still don't have the heart to take it down. This band was such a big part of my highschool years. Anyways...i can go on and on....but....thats enough bantering for today.

I felt like a coffee factory today. I was cranking out beverages constantly like crazy! Worked for 5 hours straight, and people just kept coming in! Usually there is some sort of break where there's no one for at least 10-15min. But they just kept coming in, one right after the other! It must be the cold weather.

However, the coffee spirit did come in today, I was so excited! Today was the first time since the Grove days that I served her "ice coffee please" since I haven't seen her in forever! As long as the coffee spirit shows up, you know that the world is still in order and everything is a-ok.

We don't discriminate against tofu, so why should we discriminate against ourselves?

Tofu is very much like people. Theres white tofu, yellow tofu, brown tofu, and they all come in different shapes and sizes, not to mention firmness! And just like people, there's also smelly tofu (but it still tastes good). There are soooo many possibilities when cooking with tofu, the potential for good food is endless! So my point is, we're all just like tofu! We have different color skin on the outside, but inside, we're all just made of a mushy tofuey goodness.

So there is a reason for another one of my endless analogies. I was just watching the world news just now while eating my rice and tofu, and it just seems like our world is so depressing lately. The way people treat each other....it's just so sad. I mean, what's up with all these shootings in DC. If only the sniper would see that there's so much good in people, just like how theres so much good in tofu (for your taste buds and dietary needs), maybe he wouldn't shoot people anymore. And then this bombing in Bali. My friend Kristin was just there over the summer! Good thing she's back in Socal. Why would anyone bomb a place crowded with people? From what I heard, its connected somehow to the al queda, and then osama, and on and on but it all has to do with this hate. People are so angry with each other. Yes, I know there are so many factors and reasons for this hate that I dont' know about, or too naive and ignorant to think about, but...I guess I just wish people can be nicer to each other.

So, dear internet void, ponder on the intricacies of the world, be nicer to people, and eat some tofu.

That is all.
A conversation I overheard while at the gym last night:

Guy A: dude, there was this chick here yesterday that was on the treadmill for like an hour! She looked like a porn star man!
Guy B: oh yea?
muffle muffle noise noise couldn't hear them for a while, then:
Guy A: they were at least C cups.

Sigh...so these are the conversations that go on between guys at the gym. First of all, guy A obviously has not been watching enough porn if he thinks a girl with C cups looks like a pornstar. Unless he was talking about her facial features, and not her physical features, but then again, aren't pornstars are all about the big boobage? Anyway, i found their conversation mildly amusing yet a bit degrading towards women at the same time. I dunno, what do you think?

GEEZ, WHAT A BUNCH OF COCK

Whats up with the male species' need to be cocky? I've encountered so many guys that just think they know everything, and have this need to share their knowledge with the world, even when the world doesn't ask for it to be shared. And they're not always right about the information they share! I mean, if you're gonna share knowledge with the world, at least share some correct information! If you're a cocky guy reading this...just stop it! Stop it I say! There's being confident, which is great, and then there's being OVER confident to the point of cockiness, and let me tell ya, its not attractive! Girls don't dig it! So just stop it!

Thank you.

"Contacts are the tampons of eyewear" -Me

I think that was the most intelligent thing i've said all day. This was brought up while in the car with kristin discussing the pros and cons of contacts. If you think about it, it really makes alot of sense! The two have many similarities which... i won't get into. I consciously made a "note to self" to write that down so i won't forget it, so here it is.

so my AN is in my class. Not the one from hs, but the one here in college. Yes yes, i have a college AN. And like the other AN, he doesn't know it. He could be the nicest person ever, but i don't really know him. I first had him in a class freshman year. And then i would see him from time to time. And then he went to france for a year so i forgot all about him. And now he's in one of my classes. Ok ok, maybe AN is the wrong name, cause i barely talk to him. But...he's just soooo cocky. And he totally dissed me when i had that class with him back then, although he probably doesn't know it. So anyways.

i feel like a traitor to french. all this italian infused in me everyday.......as much as i love it, its kicking the french out of my brain!! like amelie's mother said, "ARRET!!!!!"

See, i don't even know if that was spelled right.

Finally!
I got my hotdog(s) after a week of a series of events where hotdogs everywhere were just calling my name and taunting me because i couldn't get any. But i finally had 2 hotdogs last night, AND! a bratwurst today at the Adams Street Fair. So now i'm happy.
Yea, doesn't take much

So a group of us went down to the fair today and just walked around. Had my bratwurst with kristin and son and the rest in the beer garden, which turned out not to be a garden at all. Kristin and i imagined lush green fields and cans of beer growing out of them. Kinda like that scene in willy wonka and the chocolate factory, but with beer instead of chocolate. Boy, were we disappointed. It was just an area with tables. :-( Not that I had any beer anyway, so i guess it didn't matter. But its just the whole principle of calling something a beer garden and not encountering anything resembling a garden at all! Meh.

myrt1530: trees with beer on it
lefroggy42: yea....
myrt1530: and fountains that flow with beer
lefroggy42: flowers with beer in it that you can pick up like a teacup
myrt1530: hehe
myrt1530: yea
myrt1530: then you can bite into the cup
lefroggy42: yea!.....it would be....made of pizza......so then it'd be pizza and beer!
myrt1530: yum

School has started. Its going ok so far. Thats as much as i'll say about that.

SH, you are such a nerd. Just read what you posted on my blog. Yes, I'm fine..thanks for asking! Hot wangs!....na na na na na na na na na na...HOT WANGS! The trouble with typing that is that you can't tell what tune I'm singing that to. Dammit. Have a great 1st day of school tomorrow. The sheer horror of my 1st day last week is coming back to me...hope yours is so much better.

Went to see Duncan Sheik tonight at Tower Records. They were having a free concert there, and they're actually really good live. Sounded clean and everything. Some of their stuff is a little too slow for me.....i think you have to be in the mood for it. But, most of it is pretty good. I guess thats all i have to say about that.

Man, socializing is tiring. Spent a good part of the day pretending i was an international student with anne, doing all kinds of move in activities. And this is only the first day!

I want a piano to practice with.

Friday, September 20, 2002

i got my haircut today, and i enjoy it alot more than the last one i got. its suppose to be a mandy moore cut....but it doesn't look so mandy moore. oh well. there can only be ONE mandy right? i took the advice of jamie, and went to lynnse #11 at the paul mitchell salon school. man..they are hard core over there. all these hip trendy people dressed in black with all different kinds of hairstyles and clothes. i felt so out of place. but it was an interesting environment, i suggest you all go check it out someday.

Wednesday, September 18, 2002

oh my gosh.

i just caught the last half of Newsies. The first time i saw the movie was during my pre-pubescent years. ARISE AND SEIZE THE DAY! I don't know how Disney was able to pull off getting Christian Slater and Bill Pullman to sing and dance in this movie, but i guess they have their ways. This time around, the movie wasn't as cool as i remembered. It was kinda cheesy infact, but i guess i didn't think so back then. Well actually...i did think it was cheesy back then, but i just didn't care. I mean, a bunch of teenage boys singing and dancing while delivering newspapers in new york...what could be better than that? le sigh.
SH, i accidentally erased the link you made on my page! Sorry. Put it back up, will ya? Thanks. I'm pathetic. I bow my head in shame.
blog blog blog. the whole freakin world is blogging.

so, upon going through my old quotes on my webpage(shameless plug, haha), i rediscovered the most recent one i published. i found the quote so enlightening that i shall repost it here for my blogging pleasure:

"After a time, you may find that "having" is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as "wanting." It is not logical, but it is often true.”
- Spock, "Amok Time"
stardate 3372.7

I have no idea where i found that quote from, not to mention the exact stardate. Geez i'm a nerd. Either that or i'm a nerd wannabe and just made it up myself because it seemed so appropriate at the time. but would i do such a thing? i really can't remember. however, i think i can assure you with 96% certainty that i did not make it up, it is indeed an exact stardate.
once again, spock tells us how it is. this quote is so true. we humans do illogical things. things like wanting what we don't have and having what we don't want (or need for that matter, but that is a whole other issue). so can someone tell me why this quote is so true? i know it to be true but i can't explain why. why is it that after all the trouble we go through to HAVE something we want, we still go back to the days when we were WANTing whatever we now have? someone please give me a logical explanation, i know there is one out there.

sandy ass

went surfing today down in san onofre with jamie. it was quite fun, and not to mention beautiful. maybe i'll get a board next summer so i can go more often. but then again, who knows where i'll be by then.

on to more pointless things, movies i want to see: sweet home alabama, and tuck everlasting. the former for reese witherspoon's cute smile and hair, and the latter for alexis beidel. what happened to the movies this summer? they all suck. although, i've yet to see Signs. but even that got mixed reviews. eh.

whoo hoo! szu-hua, are you sure you trust me having access to your blogger? i dunno....its going to be hard to behave myself. muhahahahahaha!
and ends just as quick
and so it begins.......
went to a bbq tonight with my international posse, held by one of anne's friends. it was quite interesting. i felt so left out, being not so recently international. i guess i would've been one back in the first grade, but eh, doesn't count. international students are so interesting. most of them have been to several countries, even states...and here i am, still in oc and sd. thus, i am beginning another foundation, "Send SH to a land far far away." The paragliding foundation still exists, but any contributions to this foundation will also be gladly accepted. Sorry, contributions will probably not be tax deductable, but i'll make you some lemon bars to make up for it. :-)mmmmm.....lemon bars.....

Monday, September 09, 2002

SH wants to go paragliding but does not have $150. However, she is starting a "Send SH Paragliding" foundation. Please send all donations this way. Thank you.

hm......so somehow i got access to jamie's blog.....how did that happen?

just got home from son's place after playing a wicked game of scrabble. my first word? virulent. and since i used all my tiles, i got 50 extra pts. i am the scrabble whore!!!! speaking of which, whore was the second word i played....gooooooo me!
trip to sushi deli was big success, found parking in spite of street scene, and didn't have to wait long! yay!
sh to jme, sh to jme. are you in the blogger world yet? let me know when you are. i'll tell all my readers (which, including you would be.......1) to go to yours.

went to Belly Up tonight. Interesting mix of bands, but favorite was #2...think they were called Big Feet. These cute boys had me smitten. And they looked like they were having fun too. Sang well, played well, looked hot(!)
Man...i wanna rock too.
Too bad I only know how to play jewel and other non-rockable songs. Stupid stupid.

Saturday, September 07, 2002

right now jamie is on my bed wondering how to make a blogger of her own. so i am testing it out and showing her how easy it is. she wonders if i write everyday. obviously she does not read my blogs. blah on her.
