From the Mixed Up Files of 12/26/04:
Tonight, I'm feeling a little like a bag of mixed nuts: contained in a seal-tight pouch, lightly salted. Am I walnut, or cashew? Macadamia, or pistachio? (Seeing how I'm not a big fan of nuts, this assortment is the extent of my nut knowledge.)
I'm waiting for this bag to open so I can see the light of day.
Then, whoever opens this bag of mixed nuts will eat the nuts whole, perhaps one at a time, but the whole bag nonetheless will be digested as one. Then, I wouldn't have to worry about being cashew or macadamia. I would just be the digested blob sitting in someone's stomach. No longer a mix, but a whole.
I sit here tonight in my bedroom at my parent's house with no available computer to blog on, only the pen to paper. I am actually writing, the verb. Not the type of writing that people do on their laptops at Starbucks sipping their tall nonfat caps. No, not typing. I am WRITING. I can't remember the last time I sat down to write solely for writing sake that wasn't done on the computer. I used to handwrite in a spiral bound journal but that has....actually, I don't know what happened to it. I mean, physically I know exactly where it is, but I've stopped writing in it. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe writing things down became too slow for all the thoughts in my brain and I just found typing to be easier. But I think the real reason could be that one day I just found what I was writing in the journal to be completely pointless and insignificant. The events I wrote about seemed important at the time I wrote it, which should be important enough. But going back and reading the entries, I just found them to be utterly...for lack of a better word....unimportant.
Perhaps that's why I've taken a liking to blogging. I can write about all the insignificant things I want and justify it by calling it a blog rather than some novel or essay or even, a journal entry. I mean, sure blogs these days have taken on completely new meanings and purposes, but back when I started bloggingg, a blog was just some silly weblog I could update on my now lost-within-the-depths-of-the-internet-void website. And I kind of like to keep it that way.
The thing about blogs is that you know your audience for the most part, so divulging the more personal issues seems hardly appropriate and rather impersonal over a blog. To solve this issue- this carthartic need to solve one's issues by writing while still remaining somewhat impersonal as to not offend those who are closest to you- I seemed to have developed a wonderful knack for creating analogies as code for my life. This leaves people who stumble upon these amazingly fine crafted analogies to try and decipher what it all really means, which, brings me back to my bag of nuts.
I am a bag of mixed nuts.

AHEM
(In one act, to be read in my most brilliant British accent:)
To the Mr. and/or Miss who wishes to remain anonymous:
Stop it, I say! Stop the bloody madness!
I understand time is indeed, valuable. However, if you were so kind to spare those few moments to read my blog, AND!, post a comment on my blog, I do daresay that you would have an extra two seconds to kindly type out your name on said comment. I realize the need to be discreet in this blubbering environment our leaders like to call "Internets," but let me assure you ever so firmly that we are amongst friends here at Daily Banterings. There is no need whatsoever to fear acknowledgement of your presence. In fact, your presence would be rather welcomed, if we're ever to uncover your true identity. That is not to say that your mysterious practices of remaining anonymous is unwelcomed. No. I only use the word "would" to be GC, that is, gramatically correct. Please know that never would I, nor any members of my staff here at DB discriminate against such actions.
Truth be told, I may already have the key to your secret identity. However, my fellow readers may have the need (as well as the right) to know who amongst them is sharing in the reading of this little bit of delight that has been so brilliantly crafted to perfection, aka, DB. Should my readers choose to engage in debate with a fellow DB reader on matters discussed only in DB, who will they turn to? Certainly not to an unidentified entity.
Thus, you see, dear sir and/or madam, I ask this bit of you not solely for my own narcissistic needs, but for the good of the people, my readers, and all of humanity.
Sincerely Yours,
The DB Editor in Chief

Ahhh...........
It's so great to have friends show up when and where you least expect them. It was like i had my own entourage. Now i know how jlo must feel. An apple pie a la mode and a few bites of some wonderful deep fried fish later, I am content in my room with the way things went tonight, as is my stomach.
I stopped by Amoeba tonight to pick up one cd, and I came home with three. Now i understand why and how people can spend hours in that store. It's madness. Walking down the aisles of cds, i felt a little out of place there in my jeans and black cardigan amongst the trendy LA punk crowd. Looking around, i realized i lack an "edge." The kind of edge that would tell muggers on the streets to not mess with me. Hopefully that will be solved in the next couple months with a self defense class. Hi-ya!
Napoleon Dynamite comes out on Dec. 21st. I can't wait!!!

WHAT TIME IS IT?!?!?!
Ok, pop quiz: How many Whoppers do you have to eat before you can get your Spongebob watch?
Right now, readers across the world are shouting out numbers. But, aha! Those of you who are smart will know that this is a trick question! The answer to that is: You can't get a Spongebob watch anywhere!
At least thats the conclusion i've come to. One crispy chicken sandwich, one whopper, and one jr. whopper with no mayo later, I am finally sporting the Patrick watch from Burger King. The King seems to be low on these watches, cause boy are they hard to find. I couldn't even pick the one I wanted, I had to go with the only one they had in stock, Patrick. That's not a diss to Patrick or anything, I just wanted the blue Spongebob more.
But i have to say, this was a great way to spend $1.99. Not only do you get a reversible watch, it even comes with a tin case!! You can put anything in it! Your watch, some marbles, a rectangular peanut butter sandwich if your name is Mitch, bobby pins, mini nunchucks, chopsticks, and really, anything you can think of.
*****
Today I made a visit to my new local library. Boy, its a nice one. And, better yet, they're open on Sundays!! I get so excited in libraries, what with all the potential books i can check out. Except, I couldn't get a library card today because I didn't have proof of my current address, and I had to leave empty handed. EMPTY HANDED!! I looked up some potential books, and lingered in the front lobby a bit reading all the local announcements before leaving and hanging my head in disappointment.
I've got to get my hands on that library card.
*****
Lately I've been having lots of celebrity sightings. (well, their level of celebrity is debatable.) First Jared Leto, then Pauly Shore, again at Ikea. ("stop squeezing the ju-ooze!") And then across the street at work, Quentin Tarantino walked by me. The lady in front of me asked for an autograph, but he declined, and proceeded to walk away. Haha.
Perhaps my dry celebrity sighting spell is over?

Hello readers! I have returned (momentarily). I've recently moved, and my dsl isn't up and running yet, thus for my lack of blogs.
First things first.
I saw Jared Leto in person!! Who knew that he shops at Ikea? And, i really do believe it was some magical force that drove me to walk down his checkout isle. Going backwards at ikea is not so easy. Trying to find a checkout isle to walk through is not so easy. But who knew the one isle i picked to walk down would contain the body of one Mr. Jared Leto? My childhood dreams came true. (ok, more like post teen dreams, but whatever. Every girl wants jordan catalano at any age.) As i walked by him i gave him a quick once over, which, i think he caught me doing. So then i quickly walked through the self service warehouse to find the nearest corner to hide, so to better check him out from afar. Boy, he looked as good as he does on TV. Yum.
Second things second.
I've been watching a lot of sex in the city lately due to this new blockbuster dvd rental thing i've signed up for. Sometimes, i feel like my blogs are like Carrie's weekly columns. Except, she gets paid to write about sex. And, she gets paid enough to provide her with a comfortable one bedroom in NYC and plently left over for her oh so chic manolos. Whereas i blog for the hell of it. That leaves me wondering: if Carrie lived in our world, would she still have her job as a writer? Now that blogs are read, written, and accessible everywhere, is there even the need for a sex columnist anymore?
(cut to: fade out)
Ok, just imagine that last paragraph read with a voice over, and that last sentence being typed across the screen, ala Doogie Howser. Sometimes i wonder if I could be the next Carrie? Except, I'm really a Miranda with a dash of Charlotte.
As usual, the blogs that have over filled my head the past couple weeks have now disappeared, and I can't think of a thing to blog about.
Wait til i get my dsl back, then i'll be back up to blogging speed in no time.
Gobble gobble, happy turkey day!

Tonight i blog, with a little less wisdom than usual.
My wisdom has been plucked out of my mouf earlier this week. Since then, it's sucked big time. I can't open my mouth more than a quarter of an inch. If i talk too much my jaw starts hurting. I can't even stick my toothbrush all the way in my mouth to brush my tongue. My tongue has to come out of the mouth to meet the toothbrush. I have cuts and scars around my mouth that makes me look like Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I might as well shave my head and start wearing a suit. And the worst part of it all is that i've been on a soup diet. For those of you who know my passion for eating, you know how deeply this is hurting me...and my tummy. I can't wait til i can gnaw on something again...chew something solid, rather than nibble with my two front teef. Or cruch down on some nachos. Have some chicken wings. Scarf down some killer peruvian food.
Stop it! I'm just teasing myself with things i can't have. I can be so cruel sometimes.
This morning in the shower, my right thumb punched my cheek. Boy did that hurt. Usually my cheek can withhold a simple blow from the thumb, but in its wounded condition, it hurt like a mother. The incident is being called a "pure accident," but really, i think my thumb had ulterior motives (I believe it was taking orders from my stomach if you ask me....).
I, for one, love soup. But really, how much soup can one person have before it starts to hate the things that one loves? And this chipmunk look? Boy, that has got to go. It's clashing with my short chops. (Hair that is, not pork...mmm....pork...)
When will the madness end?????

Argh...I hate rude people.
I went to get gas tonight after work, around the corner by my house. It was busy, so everyone was waiting in lines...kinda like those pictures you see during wartime where people are wating in lines for gas....ironic...
Anyway, I was behind this car that was finishing up, and right as i was about to pull up to the pump, this jerk in a black car pushed through from my left side! At first i thought he was just trying to get through the busy gas station to get to an exit, but he ended up cutting right in front of me. It was maddening!
Maddening i say!!!
I honked a few times, but you know my corolla, sometimes its better not to honk at all with that wimpy meep meep. So then i stopped my car, got out, and started yelling at him (ok, not yell, but questioned him loudly). I said, EXCUSE ME!! THERE IS A LINE HERE! EVERYONE IS WAITING IN LINE! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU"RE DOING? He completely ignored me. Then the guy that was waiting in line behind me got out of his car and started yelling at him too, and they ended up face to face, talking in a different language, and all of a sudden, this bigger man who i thought was going to put the jerk back in his place, completely backed off. His wife looked like she was about to lunge at the jerk too, but he turned her around and they went back into the car. I was so enraged, but after seeing the big man back off, i had all these thoughts about the jerk being part of the mob (he had a black car and was dressed all in black), so i backed off too. All i could do was sit back in my car, seething through clenched teeth, staring at the jerk. He stared back and i could see a smile in his eyes because he knew i couldn't do anythign about it. Aargh! People can be such jerks.
I wonder how i would hold up against the victory blvd mob. Not so well i'm guessing...

Ditto!
Remeber ditto sheets in elementary school? I had completely blocked those out of my brain until i heard it on the radio this past saturday. ("This American Life", 10am saturday mornings, KCRW, Check it!) I know i've talked about this show before, but i'll probably keep talking about it. It's the greatest radio program that i've had the pleasure of finding so far. I find myself waking up on saturday mornings and cruising in my car, destination: anywhere, just so i can listen to this show. Alright, ok, i don't just cruise around aimlessly in my car, i usually have some sort of errand to run. But it sure makes my errands or coffee run or trips to OC alot more engaging.
So back to ditto sheets. Um...well, i guess i don't have too much to say about it, just that i had completely forgotten about them until now. Oh yea, and first grade cement glue was the best stuff ever. Probably cause i got a mini high from loving the smell of it so much. To this day, the smell of cement glue makes me happpppppyyyyyyyyyyy!

I'm a poser.
I speak of plans to go national...or someday even global, but alas, when it comes down to it, going metropolitan is even too much for me. Schumacher has exposed me, and i feel naked.
Oh well. At least there won't be any unwanted tan lines.
Tonight i ran into this guy that i was in a musical with a couple years ago. A couple meaning one and a half...
Turns out we are working across the street from each other. It's amazing how many people end up in this city. But i guess in this field, LA is the best place to be.
In other news, there was more upstairs sex last night. I don't know whats more annoying...loud electric guitar next door in the middle of the night , or loud rhythmic banging (not a pun, more of an onomatopoeia really) from upstairs. Hm...
Tough to tell. But at least with guitar playing, i'm not hiding under my blankets fearing that the ceiling will crash down on me any second...along with a bed and two naked people. Sigh...the joys of living in a lower instead of an upper apt. If i'm crushed to death one day, you can say you read about it first, right here.
RIP S.H.W
May she live in an upper, up there.

Damn that Sallie Mae!
I received a letter in the mail today, resembling a wedding invitation. I looked for the sender's name, but it was not there, only a PO Box address from Indianapolis, IN. On the front it said RSVP requested. I freaked out. Who do i know that could be getting married! Who do i know in Indiana?? Nobody. I finally got the chance to open it up, only to find that it was Sallie Mae, wanting me to sign up for loan consolidation. They even included a little rsvp card and envelope like they do with REAL wedding invitations. Boy they sure went through a lot of trouble to get me to sign up for their loan consolidation. Little do they know, its just going to go in the trash...
Little by little i'm starting to get to know "some" of the people in orchestra...all very interesting.
Lucy, the armenian beauty, is the one that i thought said she was almost 30. I think she's in her early 20s. She's ten times better than me (which is why she sits in first violin, and i in second). Talking to her tonight, i found out that she came from armenia only a year or so ago, she's on some special music program at the college, and she wants to go professional. Although, she tells me, she's practically professional level, she's been playing since the age of 5. She said it rather matter of fact-ly, i didn't find it cocky at all. I later met her father, who is also her teacher, who she claims is a great violinist. I don't doubt it. I do wonder why she's at valley college, instead of some great music school like ucla or berkeley. I guess that will be our next conversation.
Derick, one of several percussionists, is a self proclaimed "i have perfect pitch" guy. Probably in his mid to late 20s, he's the one that informed me people get paid in orchestra. He's been friendly, helpful, and welcoming, so he's cool in my book.
I feel like Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, the scene where she just arrived at the house, and she's "god blessing" all the children by her bed in her nightgown, and forgets one of the boys, so says "god bless whats his name." Turns out to be fredrick.
My "fredrick" is the kid who first asked if i was in highschool. He's also my stand partner, and i'm glad he is. We've swapped names, but i can't remember it, and i doubt he remembers mine. "Fredrick" doesn't have an orchestra at his small highschool of 400, so he comes with his grandmother (third chair cellist) once a week, and leaves during break (around 8:45pm) because its a school night. Fredrick is a blonde sophomore, the type you would see surfing or skating at the beach, not in community orchestra. He asked if he looks young for his age...i lied and said no. But i feel that he's going to sprout any day now, so no need to point out something he probably is self conscious of. It's his 4th year with the orchestra, he's been playing the violin for 5 years. Which to me is pretty amazing, to be playing in a semi professional orchestra after a year. I have good vibes about this kid, i think he'll do pretty well.
Wes, the second second, was the first person to welcome me to orchestra. Wes is an older african american gentleman, who has been pretty friendly. He's the type of person to make it a point to remember weird names like mine, so i do the same with his.
That pretty much covers the ground i've covered thus far in orchestra. For the most part, people are cool. Sometimes they get annoying. If you've ever been in orchestra, you'd know (unless you were the annoying person...). But for those who don't know, and this is just my point of view from the experiences i've had: people in orchestra tend to be cocky. Especially violins. Boy, theres been times when i've wanted to strangle some of them. There's the upfront know-it-all type. There's the ask-the-conductor-every-little-question-you-can-think-of-so-you-can-show-off-your-musical-knowledge type. And there's the i-want-the-last-word type that'll argue with the conductor. And then theres my type: the i-don't-give-a-fuck-how-much-you-know, i-just-want-to-play-some-damn-music type. I'm sure theres people in orchestra that can care less for my type.
There you have it folks, the dynamics of orchestra.

I look too much into things. Overanalyze is what i believe they call it. In fact, i'm probably looking too much into looking too much into things. Can such a thing exist? It does with me. I can't help it. Alot goes on in this head of mine. Maybe thats why i feel the need to blog. Once in a while, this head needs to be emptied...just like that jug of water that collects under the monstrosity we call the "AC UNIT" in the edit bay. If my blogger could talk, it would say, "Not It!" like they all do when its time to empty the water. But my blog can't talk, so its job is to dump my thoughts out from time to time. Sometimes it doesn't help though...so we move on.
I have good luck with parking. I don't know what it is, but I RULE when it comes to parking. That being said, i probably just jinxed my luck by blogging about it. But those who have been with me while i drove know how it is.
Werd.

Orchestra is cool because its the only place you can say "ritard" without offending anyone.
Thats about the only thing going for orchestra right now. I'm this close to calling it quits. The conductor dood still hates me. I still suck. It's like my fingers are broken or something. And then i find out that everyone's not in it for the love of music. Of course, everyone says they are, and they may even mean it, but there is dirty money involved. Ok ok, so its not actually dirty. It's probably a nice chunk of change. But who knew people get paid in orchestra! Now that i have this knowledge, i feel like the whole thing's been tainted. We have a concert next week. I'm thinking of not showing up. I just don't feel like a part of this group. But if i don't show up, i may be proving to the conductor guy that i'm a flake. In which case, i do want to show up, just to prove him wrong (yes, i'd still love to confute him...is that the right word? i do love to confute...). But if i'm not wanted? It's not like i'm playing so well that i'm adding to the group's overall quality. In fact, i may be bringing it down. Who knows. I guess it'll be a last minute decision.
Thanks for the new comments. It's nice to know i have readers. Mendacious are you who i think you are? And yes, the valley has traffic. But because of its wider streets, the ratio of cars to road space is not as intimidating or annoying as the city. And finally, Bruckner is Bruckner. He's quite an interesting fellow, and though he is a heartless quarter taker, in all seriousness, i find it a shame that not everyone is as lucky as i to know this incredibly cool individual. Maybe one day you'll see me reading one of his books as you pass me by on the corner cafe: Bruckner for One- The Education of Being Bruckner.
Tonight, i ended up doing some much needed catching up with an old friend and thus, I missed most of the presidential debates. I did hear some of it on the radio on the way home. Sometimes i empathize with Bush, because i feel like both of our public speaking skills are not up to par. But then again, I'm not the leader of a country. (Although one day i'd like to be the leader of my own island, in which case, i guess i better start practicing my public speaking now.) So speaking isn't his thing, but i wonder how he would do at blogging?
I'd like to end tonight by reminding you of an old saying in Tennessee, i know its in Texas...probably in Tennessee: " Blog me once, good for you. Blog me twice...great for me.

I can't believe it.
Ozma has broken up. How did this happen? Tonight, i play the Doubble Donkey Disc in tribute. Will i ever get to see them live again? Perhaps in a reunion tour in 5 years?
And thanks bruckner, for your disparaging comments on my last post. I guess you were the type of bully to shove a little kid to the ground. And then kick them a few times while they're crying. And bleeding.
Anyway, now its time to get down to business: the business of getting down...
Things have been crazy busy lately. Work, life, elsewhere. But between all that, i
1. got to see a cool Pixies concert at the Greek on thursday, compliments of desk buddy mitch.
2. was asked if i was in highschool by another highschooler.
3. watched a Grand Prix of horse jumping. Y'know, if you stare at a horse's head too long, they don't look like horses so much anymore.
Ok, i guess thats it. But with everything else going on, it seemed like alot.
Some of you may or may not know, but i am moving soon. Cruising around today trying to get to Fairfax HS, i realized that i DO NOT want to live in the city. I was stuck in this horrid traffic near Third and La Brea that made me clausterphobic. Perhaps i am a valley girl after all...? Like, cool. (And to be fair to those readers who do not live in Los Angeles, people in the valley don't really talk that way. Like, its just me, k?)
In loving memory of:
OZMA (1995-2004)

I'm still at 299. Does life not go on after 299?
The original star wars trilogy came out on DVD today. To tell you the truth, i've never really gotten into star wars. I know its a cultural phenomenon, and i'm committing some sort of crime by not knowing which episode is what (i was tested today by the VP at work...boy, i failed.) But! I can tell a wookie from an ewok, so there. Speaking of chewie wookies, i believe Chewie is making an appearance on jimmy kimmel tonight, for those of you who read this blog in time. I kinda want to get the trilogy to watch all the extra features though. Maybe that'll get me into the movies.
Speaking of which, i saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow this weekend, and there was a scene that seemed very similar to a scene from star wars. I'd like to hear what people have to say about that, if you've seen the movie. Sky Capt was actually very good. It doesn't take much to for me to like a movie. I mean, i like chick flicks for goodness sakes. I mean, i LOVE them. Not to say chick flicks are below the standards of a good movie. I just mean, i don't criticize character developments or writing or actors the way some people do. I like to take them for what they are: pieces of entertainment that can sometimes take your breath away, or sometimes not. Anyways, this could go on forever. What i'm trying to say is, Sky Capt is good, go see it. I've still yet to see Garden State. Le sigh...
Today i realized i've been with my blog for over three years now. (Don't tell my blog, but i think we're getting serious.) We don't see each other all the time, just when i feel like it, which i think is a nice balance in this sort of relationship. But i'm starting to get a little too attached. Sometimes i blog in my head when i don't have a computer around. (Especially in traffic.) And i tell myself to remember my headblogging but i usually never do. I always come back to this blog. So even when i try to cheat on my blog i can't actually go through with it. I think this is that time in the relationship when that darn four letter word enters the relationship...
i BLOG you.
To celebrate this moment, here are my Top 5 Magical Moment Songs in the order they should be played:
1. Teardrop- Massive Attack
2. Where is my mind?- Nada Surf version
3. Let Go- Frou Frou
4. Do you realize?- Flaming Lips.
5. Light and Day- The Polyphonic Spree
*This list is not to be taken lightly. It is not a love song list, I said they're Magical Moment songs, dammit! Please use at your own discretion.*

Alright, i just don't know anymore. The blog machine keeps saying i'm on my 299th post, meaning my next post should be the 300th, but i've done it twice already, and i'm still on 299. I feel a little like Bernie Mac. Will I ever reach 300? Mrs. 300?
Heard two really cool stories on NPR yesterday.
#1. Extreme Ironing. It's a sport! It's like extreme snowboarding or extreme downhill skiing, but instead you're ironing. To be exact, its "the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt." Those crazy brits are bloody GENIUS! You climb up Mt. Everest and rather than just stand around to enjoy the view, you iron a shirt. Its going a step beyond extreme sports. I thought simple at-home ironing was tough enough, but this sport pushes you to the edge of ironing. And you get to take home a souvenir with you when you go home - a crisp, unwrinkled, newly ironed shirt.
It doesn't get any better than that.
Anyone want to try Extreme Blogging with me?
#2. People are building movie theatres underneath the city of Paris. The police found the theatre, came back three days later, and it was completely gone. Read more here. It's cool to think what could be under the streets of Paris (other than bones and skulls in the catacombes, that is). I'll definitely have to make that a destination spot when i go.
And yes, i know my robot pictures didn't show up. I'm working on it.

Ok, ok. So i lied. That last one wasn't my 300th, this post is my 300th. But hey, nothing wrong with celebrating twice right?
Boy, do i know how to call the shots. A week after my kabbalah blog, i'm sitting there watching TV, and what do they talk about on Will and Grace? No, not my blog. Kabbalah! Does that mean i'm as cool as the characters portrayed on that show? Boy...i wish.
I lost a lunchtime game of poker today within 15 min. Dammit! Next time i gotta at least hold out for 20 min. And damn that velasquez for taking all my money. He was like some school bully taking all my lunchtime poker money. Except instead of trashcanning me or holding me upside down over the toilet and shaking me til my money fell out of my pockets, he made me go all in. But to be fair Bruckner (I know you're always out for my quarters), I have stayed in much longer in the past, its just that we played a fast lightning round game that only lasted an hour, and that threw my game off. But if we're talking about the relative ratio of my playing time to overall gameplay period compared to previous games played, i think i did ok. (And btw: which accent of mine are you referring to? The Irish, or that of Eliza Doolittle's cockney in My Fair Lady?)
Dang, i'm always talking about math. Ratios here and there, math in food, math everywhere. You would think i did better in math classes by the way i talk math. And boy can i talk math. The sum of the squares of the...
nevermind.
Ok, so i never post pictures up for good reason. And now, here are...
Top 5 reasons why SH never posts pictures on her blog, in no particular order:
1. People should use their imagination.
2. I don't have a digital camera.
3. It adds a little mystery to my blog.
4. I'm lazy.
5. It gives me a reason to blog about why i don't post pictures up on my blog, thus allowing me to make yet another top 5 list to add to my list of top 5 lists.
But now i'm going to break all the rules. The Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow premiered across the street the other day. As i sat in a meeting in the conference room, i witness the birth of a giant 50ft robot right outside the window. It was like a scene from a movie where people are sitting in a conference room talking seriously and only the audience notices that outside the window, a huge gi-normous robot is growing bigger and bigger, about to attack. Except only this time, I was the audience who noticed the huge robot outside the window. Ok, so maybe there isn't a movie like that (if so, please let me know!), but thats what it seemed like as I sat there. It was one of the coolest things they've done out there on that street. So i just have to share.
Robots Attack Hollywood!
That would be cool if just for that day, I was Yoshimi. Then i would bypass all the security and take on those robots single handedly. Cause if i was yoshimi, i'd have a black belt in karate. And yes, i would let them robots eat you. And laugh a hearty laugh, loudly.
Wahahaha.
Yoshimi.

Hey hey hey! Welcome to my 300th post.
People who first meet me always like to comment on how quiet I am. Why is that? What is this need to be talkative? People who know me will know i'm not that quiet. In fact, sometimes i don't even shutup when i should. But yes, there are times when i am quiet. But why is that considered as such a bad thing? I'll talk when i have something important or significant to say. I don't want to just talk out of my butt just for the sake of talking, do i? Why waste words when i can get just as much out of listening to everyone else around me? Does anyone else agree with me? Or do i need to start seeing the other side of things and really need to talk more just for the sake of talking? Its not that i have a problem with me being quiet. Its just that everyone else does, and i have a problem with that.
La Dee Da.
It's weird. I've had my current job for a while, but sometimes when i pass by a coffee shop with a help wanted sign, I still get the urge to "inquire within." I don't of course, but i just think about it. Once in a while i'll think about Muir Woods, and how great it was to work there. I was surrounded by this legal substance that when made right made me very happy. (And i make some damn good coffee.) I worked by myself with no bosses breathing down my throat (even though my boss is hardly the type). There were always friendly people coming in, and interesting people to chat with. I got to read when it was slow. I got to listen to mixes of music i enjoyed, and force it on the coffee drinking people during my shift whether they liked it or not, though they usually told me they love my mixes. All in all, it was a wonderful place to work.
So, to end my pretty uneventful 300th post, here are top 5 songs for a lazy sunday afternoon, in no particular order:
1. Love and Happiness- Al Green
2. Painter Song- Norah Jones
3. These Days - Nico
4. Sunday Sun- Beck
5. a?guas de marc?o- Elis Regina

Who does Zach Braff think he is?? Just because he wrote a script for Natalie Portman, and actually casted Natalie Portman in said script, doesn't mean he has the right to date Natalie Portman on the first shot!!! Sure we all love him in scrubbs, and sure he might be a brilliant writer and first time director, but that does not mean that he can just go and date Natalie Portman! It all seems too easy...And what about my boy milo?? I guess that moment we shared on New York Street meant nothing to him, since he's now dating Alexis Bledel, his gilmore girls COSTAR! I thought we really had something that day- him looking all good standing there, me looking all good in the blazer driving that matching blue cart...We made eye contact for goodness sakes! Does that not mean anything to anyone anymore? I almost crashed that cart and the passengers on board because of him, and what does he do? He goes and dates a costar. Yea, whatever.
Is this some sort of new kabbalah-esque train that i should be jumping on? Is hollywood trying to tell me that, IF i write a script, and direct a movie from said script, not to mention star in the movie of said script that i directed, i'll end up dating my hot costar? Yes, if hollywood could talk, i believe thats what it would be trying to tell me. I shall now go spread this gospel throughout the land.
From henceforth, all ye who wisheth to date hot celebrities may do so by joining a WB drama or writing your own feature film with said celebrity in mind. It worked for Zach, it worked for Milo, it'll work for you too. All you have to do is buy a $50 green sweatband and wear it on thy head for continuing prosperity and date-ability, for we are all out of those expensive red strings.

I once heard someone somewhere say that they really enjoy a nice pair of pants. Perhaps it was in a movie. I'm not really sure where i heard it, but when i did, i felt like i couldn't agree more with another person on a statement. Abortion, religion, politics, these are all things i can get in debates about for hours on end. But enjoying a nice pair of pants? To that i can't say anything more than "Amen, brotha."
I don't know what it is about pants. Especially a nice pair. Jeans, cords, slacks, you name it, i love it. Except of course, for the ones that don't fit me. But i also enjoying seeing a nice clean cut pair of pants on another person. Strange, i know, but i'm sure you've read stranger things on this blog. Perhaps this love for pants stems from the fact that i have a hard time finding a good pair. Finding a nice pair of pants is so hard to come by these days. Either they're all taken, or they don't fit me. My problem is: short legs and the refusal to wear heels. Most pants my size are all 3-4 inches too long for me, and i'm just too lazy to wear high heels to even them out. A key ingredient to a nice pair of pants is that they don't drag when you wear them. So, the day is good when i find short pants. As in, ones that come in short, regular, and long. They say "short" but to me its just the right length. Does that mean i'm short? Or! does that just mean i have a long torso and my legs are short in relation to said long torso? Eh? Didn't think about that, didya? But really, it's amazing how excited one can get over a little five letter word. You know, like jello, crazy, pants, sucka, paris, nunce*, and of course, short- these are all words to get excited about.
But i digress in the land of short pants. The point is, i really enjoy a nice pair of pants.
*As you may remember from the 01.05.04 archive: **NUNCE is a registered trademark of SH. Combining the word "none", and "once," it is often used by SH to refer to something "not even once." Someday it'll be in the dictionary, with SH's name next to it, so don't even think about ripping it off. However, occassional borrowing is permitted to place emphasis when proving a point or settling an argument in front of worthy adversary, at which time, said adversary would be overcome by shock of such a well crafted word that worthy adversary would, at that time, concede to any prior arguments, allowing the user of the word "Nunce" to come out victorious.**

Today i went to get my violin fixed and found out its going to cost me $140. Yes, that includes new strings, but i wasn't prepared for everything else to be so much. And who knows whether i'll keep playing or not? But i think in the end, my violin deserves a good tune up, even if i only end up playing it a couple times, so i went ahead with it. In the very least, the sound coming out of it will be better.
I was chatting with nick, the guy fixing my violin, and he confirmed that the other community orchestras in the area consist of mostly seniors too! (He's checked out the scene.) We both found it odd. Where are the post college graduates and the pre mid life crisis people our age that want to play? Where could they be hiding? Not in the valley, that's fer sure.
I must go to bed now so that i can wake at the butt crack of dawn to get to the airport along with thousands of other people only to wait and wait and wait and then board the plane and land in sj from where we will drive to napa to hopefully taste some yummy wine.
Mmmm...wine=grapes. I love grapes. I wonder if the winery people ever just go out into their grape fields and sit down with handfuls of grapes to stuff in their moufs. Hmm...probably not. But i bet it would be fun to. I would. Especially if someone fed them to me. And i was sitting on a great big throne. With people fanning me.
Boy, i love grapes.

Hey...no fair. If you're going to post a comment, you can't post as "anonymous." Whatever! If you're going to do something, do it right. Names people! Come on now.
So i had my class last night. It didn't go as well as i had hoped. When i showed up, most everyone was already there, so I had to just find a place to sit down. The one thing i noticed immediately: 80% of the class was over 50. Interesting, i thought. I sit down next to this girl sitting by herself, who also happened to be my age. She asked how old i was, and i asked how old she was. She whispered back and either said, 13, or 30, i could not for the life of me figure it out. You'd think one would be able to tell a 13 yr old from a 30 yr. old....but nope, i couldn't. I didn't want to insult her either way so i tried to ask her more questions. I've deduced that she is 30. Or, almost 30.
Anyway, so one bad thing happens after the next. First we tune up, and i realize that my violin has rusted. Well, not literally, but my pegs were stuck and i couldn't turn them to tune. So by the time everyone was well into the first piece, i was the only one still tuning. After a while, i just gave up, because i couldn't hear myself over everyone else playing, so i kinda just sat there, listening to everyone else. During pauses i would quietly try to tune, and i was able to somehow finally tune up. It wasn't perfect, but it was close. So i try to play but i haven't played in forever and a year, so my fingers were rusty too, and they weren't doing what my eyes were telling my brain to tell my fingers to do. I end up faking half of it.
THEN. During the break, the conductor guy comes up to me and says he hasn't seen me before (apparently he knows everyone else there, no one else is new?) and starts asking me some questions. How long have i been playing? How did i hear about this class? Where else have i played? Do i go to this school? What was the last orchestra i played with. Last orchestra? You mean i had to have played in a real orchestra??? "Um...highschool?" was my stupid reply to that last question. His face then turned doubtful. He said, since he doesn't know me, he has to hear me play to know where to place me (I had sat myself down in the first violin section. Thats just where i'm used to sitting!). He asked me to play a few measures of a piece. So then i panicked. I tried. It sounded horrible. And it was break time so the room was pretty quiet with people just milling about. I wanted to tell him, my violin's on crack and it doesn't want to tune right! I haven't played in years! This is my first time looking at the music! All these excuses were running in my head, but he didn't seem to have heard me mutter them. So i played once. Mess up. Played again. Mess up. After that i was determined to play the best messed up measures EVER. And i did. Boy, it was horrible. I think even people stopped practicing to themselves just to hear me, because all of a sudden it got really quiet. And that made me more nervous. So finally he stopped me and said, well, based on your experience (i think he meant LACK of it), you should really be sitting with the 2nd violins. And sign these forms, and yadda yadda. Ok, fair enough. I didn't mind sitting with the second violins. I just wished i had played better in front of him. Now he's going to think that i'm some ammateur-straight-out-of-HS-violin-player. Well, even though i am. But, i just wished i was able to fake my inabilities more so i could impress him. Oh well.
Since i had started with the first violins, i decided to stay there (even though he had already told me i should be with the 2nd violins). I didn't feel like moving, and i didn't know where to get 2nd violin music. And really, it'll probably be my last time ever in the 1st violin section after my horrible 2 minute audition. So then we tune up again, and OF COURSE, when i put my violin away during the break, it had untuned itself again, and once again, i was sitting there trying to adjust my pegs while everyone started playing. This time, i couldn't tune it as close as i did the first time, so i just said screw it, and played. For those of you who don't know, you can still play the right notes if your violin isn't tuned 100%. You just have to shift your positions a little. So thats what i attempted to do. ATTEMPTED. I mean, it was ok, it didn't sound completely right, but it wasn't completely off either. Once in a while i would hit the wrong note. So, i'm sure the conductor could hear me playing out of tune. I just wish i could've told him that my violin was out of tune, and i KNEW i was playing out of tune, i'm not tone deaf. Well, not completely. ;-) I played about 30% of the music, and faked the rest.
And then, when the whole thing was over, i went up to the conductor to ask if there was anything else i should do. He emphasized again that i should be getting 2nd violin music. It might be just me and my paranoia, but i just got the feeling that he wasn't too happy that i was there. He didn't seem entirely welcoming to a girl who just wants to play her damn violin. But then again, what was i expecting? A red carpet welcome?
Now i can't back out. He said he'll call people if they don't show up. Plus i took a copy of the music home with me, so i'd have to return it eventually. I've got nowhere to hide. Ok, so first day of school didn't go too well, and i'm feeling a little dejected. But i'm determined to just brush it off and just keep going.
Cut to: SH in a light blue sweat suit combo gear with worn in new balance running shoes, a sweatband on both head and wrists, running in place. She then turns to face the sun, so all you see is her dark silhouette...She runs off towards the morning sun - images reminiscent of Rocky 1, 4, and 5. V.O is heard offscreen: Just shake it off SH, shake it off. A soft "Eye of the Tiger" fades up in the background. Dun! Dun dun dun.... Dissolve to:
But ok really. To tell you the truth, a part of me wants to go just to spite the conductor. Y'know, cramp his style. Make him a little nervous about me ruining his precious orchestra. Maybe after some practice and rehearsals i'll be back up to speed again, and i can prove him wrong. Boy, I love to prove people wrong. Maybe a little too much. So, it's not exactly the greatest reason to want to go back, but hey, its a reason right?
So now i'm Risin' up, back on the street...

Last night i'm at the grove with sara, and we're having dessert at The Farm when i suddenly see: Linda Hunt! My dry celebrity spell is over! She was sitting at the table behind us. It was cool. And of course right after i told sara, she kept turning around "casually," but i think it was pretty obvious. Oh well, not like we'll ever see her again.
And let me just say, the brownie sundae at The Farm is "supoib." Although...it really did need some more ice cream. People should know when they serve desserts a la mode, that the pastry to ice cream ratio should be equal, if not more ice cream. Yet, theres always only one scoop of ice cream. What's up with that? Especially if you're sharing...that brings your ice cream ratio down 50%. You would think that it would also bring the pastry ratio down 50%, but for some reason, it just doesn't seem to work that way. So when you're sharing, like we were last night, you just don't get as much ice cream as there should be with such a dessert. I just think people generally like their dessert with more ice cream than pastry. Am i right?
Example number 2: pizookies at BJs. Lovely wonderful stuff, but again, not enough ice cream! The surface area of the pizookie is big enough to house 4 scoops of ice cream really. In this example, the ice cream to pastry ratio has been brought down 4 to 1. How is that fair? It's not really.
Finally, therefore, in conclusion, to sum things up, the usage of food to solve math problems is more prevalent than people may think.
I rest my case.

Okay okay people!
After much complaints, my blog has gotten a new and fresh look. The margin issues have been fixed, and you can now post your comments (for real this time, i promise). I really like this look, don't you? If only my room looked like this- so fresh and so clean clean.
Ok, time to get to that daily thing that some people call work.

Another adventure in the land of devils...
Today, as i was making my way towards the OC (not just OC, but THE OC), my driverside tire suddenly went flat. There i was, southbound on the busy 101 in hollywood, and i had to suddenly merge three lanes over so i can stop and figure out why my car sounded like it was going to blow up. The shoulder of the freeway was teeny tiny, i barely made my way up it. While sitting in my car collecting my nerves, my car was bouncing back and forth from being so close to the cars speeding past me. I was finally able to get out and saw that i had a flat tire. I would've attempted to change my own tire if i had been in an area that was safe: ie- a place where i wouldn't have gotten run over by speeding cars, but alas, i didn't feel like being injured today. So, i called AAA, and after being put on hold forever, they told me that it would take another 20 min for someone to get out to me. As soon as i hung up with them, i called my mom, and while talking to her, a truck pulled up behind me! I thought it was AAA and was surprised that they came so quickly. But alas, i was wrong, for it was the freeway saftey patrol. The guy changed my tire in 10 minutes, i called AAA to cancel (which was more of a hassel than it was worth really), and i was on my way in no time.
And the lesson of this story? My taxdollars ARE really being put to work. The guy was friendly and fast, and he got there quicker than AAA, without me even calling him! I guess the city ain't so devilish after all...
So i see that no one wants to post any comments. Maybe i've been too bold to assume that i had more than 5 readers. Even the viagra pushing drug dealers don't want to spam me with comments. I don't think it can get any sadder than that.
(Yes, that was my weak attempt into guilt tripping you into commenting on my blog. did it work?)

Except when it's being represented by good looking vampire lawyers and the cronies...but i haven't had to worry about that ever since their cancellation. :-)

I had a nice night with Steve, and now i'm way tired and sleepy...probably just suffering from food coma. That's one thing i like about hanging out with steve. It always involves food somehow. Either eating too much of it, or buying it in bulk at costco and then eating too much of it. Or a trip to the bookstore reading magazines and finding new books we want to buy. Or both.
What is it about schools? Why do they produce that educational institution smell? Not that it's a smelly smell. It's just a very distinguishable scent in the air that isn't commonly found in other places, like work persay.
Yesterday i went to valley college to sign up for a class. As soon as i stepped out of my car, i smelled that smell. That first day of school smell. The smell that i've only smelled in 2 other places: highschool, and UCSD. I thought about this as i was walking to register for my class. Paramount didn't smell like this. Work doesn't smell like this. Only a school would smell like this. Is it the scent of the trees? Can't be. My hs didn't have that many trees, and it had the smell. Paramount had lots of trees, and it didn't have the smell. Maybe its the new-books-combined-with-classrooms-combined-with-trees smell. If that smell could be bottled, i would pick that over baby powder any day.
BTW: Baby powder update- although it still suffocates me from time to time, the smell isn't as strong in my car anymore. In fact i'm starting to miss it a little. That is, until i gag and suffocate again...
So i went to Valley College to sign up for rehearsal orchestra. While i was there i decided to check the class enrollment list, because a bunch of people were hovered over it. I thought i'd join the hullabaloo. As i was looking for my class in the big list on the chalk board, i suddenly had a realization that: maybe i should've signed up sooner! There i was, with only 3 full days to register. Perhaps the class was full a month ago? Perhaps it's the most popular class there???? WHAT WILL I DO IF I CAN'T GET IN??
Boy, was i completely wrong.
I finally found my class on the list, and i even checked it twice. I found that, with only 3 full registration days left, there was a whopping number of one (1) person that's signed up for the class. Counting me, that would make a whopping two (2). (Unless that one number counts the professor...) You can't have an orchestra with TWO PEOPLE!! At least not the last time i checked, though i have been out of the circuit for a while. So now i anticipate that the class will most likely be cancelled, and i won't get to play with anyone.
Won't anyone come play with me?

So i got my car washed this weekend. I went for the early bird special, and the guy asked me what scent i wanted for my car freshener. It came down to New Car Smell, or Baby Powder. Of course i went for the baby powder. When i got in my car, not only was it clean, it really smelled like baby powder! I was so amazed, not to mention excited that i had such a fragrant car. It was great! ...Or so i thought...
A couple hours later, i started to wonder where they hid this car freshener. Isn't it usually hanging on the rear view mirror? I couldn't figure it out. So i thought maybe they sprayed the inside with this stuff. But wouldn't a spray's scent be gone pretty quickly? Well, apparently NOT QUICK ENOUGH! My car, my lovely white corolla with the noise in the back, my place for solitude and safe haven is now SUFFOCATING ME to death with its scent. Everytime i get in my car i'm reminded that it has a new smell. And it's ok for the first 10 minutes or so when i first get in the car. After that, i start getting a headache! I'll either have to roll my windows down, or turn on the ac, but both just makes me cold. While innocent in name and intentions, i do believe this baby powder scent will be the death of me. As much as i love baby powder, whatever that poser scent is in my car is suffocating me, and perhaps i should've gone for the new car smell. I can't even cruise the right way now that i'm so nauseated by this baby powder. Damn you baby powder! I shake my fist at thee!
And oh yea, a new thing i'm trying out here on my blog: COMMENTS. If you're one of 3 whopping readers out there, feel free to make a comment. I don't know how well this will work or whether i'll keep it up or not. I guess it depends on how many unsolicited porn or viagra links i get inundated with. We'll see.
A tout a l'heure!

[A flourish of trumpets. Enter SH.]
O what a glorious night!
Last night was my first at the Hollywood Bowl. And what a way to begin a relationship! So intense was it that i can only express my feelings in the form of a letter.
Ahem.
Dear Hollywood Bowl,
I love you. Utterly, and truly. Last night you had me at hello. But truth be told, you had me much earlier than that. My affection for you began a year ago, when I made the mistake of exiting on Highland on a saturday evening. Much to my chagrin, i was caught in your traffic much longer than i cared for. Was it my naive understanding of LA traffic being new to the city? Or was it FATE that led me to sit in your traffic, allowing me to read the sign that said Tony Bennett was performing there that night? It's hard to say. But at that moment, I vowed myself to come see you next summer.
Alas, this summer came, and I had heard you were back in town. This time you teased me again with your charming Harry Connick Jr. and your newly renovated good looks. And again, due to unexcusable circumstances, our paths never met. I thought i was doomed to never see you this summer.
But fate works in funny ways. Was it coincidence that i was at Beth's house that night? Was it coincidence that she had an extra ticket? Or did you plant those tickets in her hands as a way to see me, knowing that i can't resist the mention of your name and fireworks in the same sentence? I guess we'll never know for sure. But let me just tell you, i jumped at the chance to see you, not even knowing what you had in store.
The next day, my good friend internet told me you were celebrating 75 years of music with disney. I couldn't believe my luck. You were going to dazzle me with fireworks AND disney music? Really, you're too much. You really know how to wow a girl for the first time.
Not only was i already excited at the thought of meeting you, but you went all out for me. You impressed me with Fantasia and the Bumblebee suite, and Snow White. I was smiling so much it hurt. Everything got so hot that we both had to take a 15 minute break. And when we came back, you just kept right on going.
First you brought out Dick V. Dyke, who even at his age, bless his heart, can still do the jigs from Mary Poppins. Yes. Even the penguin dance.
Then! Alan Menken came out to play the piano while singing some of the greatest songs from Disney movies. While i sang along, i couldn't believe how many i knew! It's as if you, dear hollywood bowl, had personally picked the songs i knew so that i could sing along.
Then! As if alan wasn't enough, he brought out the voice of Ariel, and she sang Part of Your World!
Then! He brought out the voice of Belle, and she sang Beauty and the Beast!
Then! He brought out the voice of Pocahantas, and she sang Colors of the Wind!
And before i had the chance to recover from all this princess excitement, you topped everything off with a Lion King finale with...
FIREWORKS.
Boy, what a way to end the night. Or so i thought...
You teased me three more times, but you always delivered fantastic encores. First, a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious sing along. Then you made Beth happy by giving her what she'd been asking for all night: When you wish upon a star. I was so overwhelmed with everything i can't even remember what you did last. It was sensory overload.
I will miss you when you leave me for Fall. Hopefully, i will be able to see you again before you leave. But if i don't, promise me we'll meet again next summer, I'll know where to find you. And perhaps we can spend another amazing night under the stars in the hills of Hollywood.
Until then, love and happiness.

Isn't it ironic that my initials, SH, coincide with the same initials as Straight Hood? Coincidence? I think not.
So it's all over. I've been discovered. The coworkers have now found out about my blog. Who knows, they're probably reading this sentence right now...or now. It's ok if you're a friend and you're reading my blog, because you know me! It's ok if you're a stranger in kansas city, because i'll never meet you! But to have coworkers read my blog? To have people i interact with professionally (well...as professional as you can get with a dartboard and beachball around) on a daily basis read about my love for tofu and hot dogs or my embarrassing blunders...to me that is a little strange.
It's like the time Bruckner discovered my blog. A little bit shocking at first, but eventually, i get over it because i think really, people just forget about it after a while. Either that or people just don't understand what i'm trying to get across since i practically live inside my head. Oh well, i'm over it. That's right Diaz. And you Velasquez! They can read all they want because in a month, they probably won't be. Haha.
But those pesky coworkers discovering my blog was good for one thing: I realized that people are blogging again! Boy was i surprised when i found out there were new entries to read and catch up on. I *almost* gave up hope on you guys! But your blog entries give me hope that my blogwagon will keep on truckin. Forever and ever! And ever.
This is Straight Hood, peacing out.

So, thanks to that stupid show, The Simple Life, i can no longer eat hot dogs.
Yes, yes, i know you're wondering why i'm watching that stupid show in the first place. Well, what can i say, those blondes sparked my interest. I'm incredibly sad at the thought of leaving my hot dog/sausage eating life behind. Those who know me will know my love for hot dogs. Simple and plain, with ketchup and a bit of mustard. That was the way i liked them. Sometimes with that green relish stuff if it was around. Other times with grilled onions...damn those grilled onions smelled so good. Those one dollar hot dogs at Ikea....those were the days. But those days are no longer. This after watching how hot dogs and sausages are made. They stuff the ground up meat in pig intestine!! I'm definitely a carnivore, but sometimes when i see the process of meat and how it gets to my plate, i feel like i can turn herbivore. But chicken...chicken is soo good. I feel that though chinese by birth, and recently american by citizenship, i share one thing in common with the african americans: our love for chicken. Roasted, toasted, deep fried, pan fried, with or without the waffles...however you do it, chicken is just plain yummy.
But i digress.
So i shared my sadness with my cubicle buddy mitch, who is a vegetarian. He informed me that there are vegetarian hot dogs out there, and they're not bad. So, i guess all is not lost. But i haven't tried those suckers yet, so i can't really say for sure whether this new no-hot-dog-eating thing will be a dilemma for me.
I guess its what they call, "ignorance is bliss." If i didn't know how meat was processed, i would probably eat it all. But once i know how something is made, or what is really is in front of me (ie, sea urchine, intestines, liver...etc), I won't want to eat it.
A couple weeks ago i went out to lunch with my mom and my uncle, who is a vegetarian. And so we went to try a new chinese vegetarian resaturant, which was pretty legit (this coming from a carnivore), so much so that i even forgot we were in a vegetarian restaurant (even after the buddhist monks showed up...haha). We ordered some noodles, and in mine, i found a piece of something i was not familiar with. I showed it to my mom and asked her what it was. She said, "thats what they call, pig intestine."
Ugh, yuck, i thought, and began a process to donate this unfamiliar piece of food to my mom, something i often do to my parents when i don't want to eat something. But then she said, "SH, YOU CAN EAT IT." Thats when i realized and remembered: duh! i'm in a vegetarian restaurant!! So i just chuckled to myself, and ate my artificial pig intestine. It wasn't bad! It's amazing what they can do with soy these days. :0)
Sometimes i think i can go vegetarian. Almost all vegetarian meat products are made out of soy, and i love soy byproducts like tofu, so whats the problem right? But there come those times when i just want a nice piece of chicken, or a good in n out burger. Not steak so much...i'm not a big steak fan. Sometimes when i eat it i just feel like i'm chewing on a piece of muscle...cow muscle. But sometimes i just want my meat. So, we'll see where this thing goes.
Today at Trader Joes i saw those veggie dogs that mitch spoke of. But i knew i couldn't finish so many, so i went for the veggie ground meat instead. I'll let you know how that goes.
This is SH, signing out.

There are several issues I would like to address tonight, thus the reason for this rare appearance i'm making on my own blog.
One: The resurgence of old school video games like pong and the mario brothers on old platforms like nintendo, atari, and the like.
It appears as though this return has become quite the trend setter for the hipsters and indies. This observation might be the influences of a new project at work, or the fact that everyday on my way to the garage at work, i pass by a cart that is selling plug and play controllers with several games built right in. However, my suspicions of this rapidly growing trend was confirmed by a trip i made to target yesterday.
While strolling by the guys tshirt section, i came across a tshirt that had an image of a nintendo controller affixed upon it. My first reaction was to get one for my brother. Everytime someone asks him about it, he would be able to say his cool sister got it for him. :-) My second reaction was to "think about" getting one for myself, in my weak attempt to be cool. My third reaction was to walk away in disappointment as there were no other "nintendo controller affixed image" tshirt anywhere, other than the one on display (which was not for sale).
The fact that there were no more nintendo tshirts available for purchase prompted a lightbulb to go off in my head, reaffirming that yes, this has indeed become quite the trend.
However, this trend was definitely not the first.
A couple years ago i noticed the popularity of old school video game music remakes. Indie bands like Ozma, Mr. Bungle, and Estradasphere all had great versions of those catchy tunes from the games we love. Whether or not video game music is still a continuing trend, i've long lost track. But i'm sure once this new "old video game" trend is at its peak, I'll be hearing those beloved tunes once again.
Two. If you proclaim yourself to be a nerd, are you really still a nerd?
Are real nerds ever really aware that they're a nerd? My theory is, if you have enough awareness of your nerdiness, then you are aware of your actions. To me, there are several levels of nerdiness, and a real nerd is one that is not aware of how others perceive them. Unless, you self-proclaim yourself to be one in order to fit in with the counter culture folks. Y'know, those who wish to be unconventional and unorthodox in their ways. So if you realize you are a nerd, maybe you're really not a nerd? But if you are a nerd, and you want to counter those who go out of their way to be unconventional, then aren't you really just plain conventional? In one word...normal?
To sum up, when is one ever "cool?"
If you're a nerd, you're considered uncool. If you're a nerd with a nintendo shirt on, you're considered indie cool. If you're cool by nature, you're considered uncool by the anti-cool, which may or may not be the nintendo shirt wearing, self-proclaiming nerds. Mario wears uncool red overalls. Yet the person that wears him on a shirt is cool. When do we draw the line? Aren't we all the coolest nerds in our own way?
I rest my case.

It seems peculiar to me that for the past couple of Saturday mornings, I've found myself out driving here and there in the eleventh hour of the morning to get such and such a task done. And for some strange reason, i've found myself changing the radio stations, bored with everything, and finally landing on kcrw's Saturday morning eleven o'clock hour radio program.
These programs are great. They're stories about people from real people. They're enlightning and engaging. Often i've found myself already at my destination, but still sitting in the car trying to listen to the end of someone's amazing story. This past week, i found myself almost tearing up while listening to this woman's account of her dying husband. A couple weeks ago, i sat in my car, in a parking lot in amazement at this guy's story about how his very own apt. made its way on the show, The Bachlorette, and the following events that changed his life.
I guess its not that wierd that i've been in the car each week at the same time listening to these other people's lives. But to me it is. It's not like i remember each week that this show is on at 11am saturday mornings (i'm not even sure i will remember now, even after blogging.) And to not remember that it's there, but to come back to it repeatedly and getting so much out of it...that to me is fate.

Today i had bad allergies in the morning and then had worse allergies when i got to work, only to realize with my sneezing, nose running boss at the end of the day that it must be the new AC unit we installed yesterday.
Today in my car i saw an old man riding his bicycle and it was such an endearing sight that i found myself laughing out loud.
Today i got carded at trader joes even though last time i didn't.
Today as i sat eating my burrito while watching the michael jackson impersonator across the street on hollywood blvd, i realized just how great a song "The way you make me feel" is...not to mention "Man in the Mirror."
Today i made a grape spark in the microwave, and then proceeded to have another show 15, and 20 minutes later.
Today was not the greatest day i've ever known.
Today i had a cute shirt on and flexed for my coworkers while they admired my shirt (or pretended to admire my shirt when they were really admiring my flexed muscles.)
Today i think i actually had 2 servings of fruits and vegetamables each, which is alot for me...
But right now, i'm sitting here thinking about you, and wondering what you're up to.

Hey party people.
I blog again. I know, its hard to believe since i've been gone for so long. Nothing too exciting has been happening. Except that today is cady's birthday. I hope she's having a good time at the Padre's game.
Nothing too much to report. Haven't had a celebrity sighting in a while, though some coworkers did get to sit near Ashley Olsen in some Japanese restaurant. So i guess i've had a celebrity sighting by association...um...yes.
So i guess i haven't been blogging much because i don't have too much to rant or rave about. In fact, i'm not really sure you're that interested in this blog even as you read this really long sentence that seems to go on forever and ever and ever.
(Ha ha, i jus made you read a long boring sentence for nothing! Sucker!!!)
At times like these, i suggest you refer to my archives. Theres some good ones in there, just fish around for it. Try October 15, 2002. It has a good analagy about tofu.
So rather than have me sit here and waste words away, i'll come back when i have something significant to say.
Peace out homies.

I think its officially over. The blog bandwagon has disbanded. Everyone has jumped off. And i'm still here and there some of the time, but its not the same anymore. :-(
Next month i will go see Jason Mraz at the Walt Disney Concert Hall! I can't tell what i'm more excited about: the fact that it's jason mraz, or the fact that its in WDCH. Probably the combination of both. It should be good.
Work has been super busy lately. I now have a fear of dogs that are half wolf, particularly ones named Balto. Or anything named Boris that resembles a duck. Oy...
Apparently people at work seem to think i'm hip with the pop culture/entertainment news of our sad and deranged world. I didn't think i'm that up to date with things, but who am i to argue? So now,
The Entertainment blog:
I saw this picture of Lindsay Lohan at her Mean Girls premier, and boy does she have big boobs. I wonder if they're real...?
And, sadly, it was Jimmy Fallon's last show on SNL last week. I couldn't believe it. Now who will be the funny hottie (other than Tina Fey) that i look forward to watching every week?
The Hooters in Hollywood opened down the street from work last week. Still haven't been there yet, but after the other hooters experience in San Diego, i really feel no need. Although, i'm sure i'll end up stepping in there one of these days.
What the heck is Tone Loc doing on that stupid WB Superstars show? One minute he's singing to me while i run a 5k, the next minute he's judging a hoax show that is just...well...mean! That show is really mean!
Playboy is looking to feature hot chicks from Home Depot. I think Home Depot is to guys what Michaels is to me, and what toy stores are to children. And when is the Britney issue coming out?? I guess i'm not all that up to date on whats hip.
And when is that DeGarmo chick going to get kicked off? Just go already!!!
OK. SH...out.

Hello Blog Readers!
So i just finished watching the final episode of friends like all the other millions of people out there. And i have to say, it was pretty good (though predictable...of course ross and rachel would get together. of course.) I've never been a huge Friends fan, just a couple episodes here and there, but i felt like i've watched it enough to carry it out through the end. I gave up some yummy thai food tonight for friends, but i guess it was worth it. Thats what friends are for right? Ha ha. Ha. Ok...
YES! For those of you who are dying to find out...I finally saw mean girls! And YES it was actually pretty good! Funny and entertaining...and a bit of a shocker too! But i'll let you see it for yourself. But really, whats more entertaining than teenage girls with big knockers prancing around in short skirts and pretty hair? Like yea, like, right on!
In conjunction with mean girls, i'd like to bring up a radio interview with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen that i heard this morning. I learned that NO, they do not appreciate being called THE OLSEN TWINS but they won't get mad at you if you do either. But because I would like to stay on their good side, i am therefore differentiating the two as separate entities rather than as a unit, as i have previously been guilty of in the past. I think i am liking them more and more. I was listening to them talk, and although they still sound like teenagers once in a while (um...like yea, like right on!), they sound pretty grounded for having been in the business since they were 8 months old. And really, who doesn't sound like a teenager sometimes? Like...right? (But i have an excuse cause i live in the VALLEY. hahaha. IN YO FACE! Like totally!)
Today I learned that if you say the word CAPITOL too many times, it loses all of its meaning. And then you start getting it confused with CAPITAL. And no, the dictionary didn't help.
CAPITOL CAPITAL CAPITOL CAPITAL CAPITOL CAPITAL CAPITOL CAPITAL CAPITOL CAPITAL...
See! I told you!
Oh, so i'm going into the elevator with some co-workers the other day, and then two more people join us. I'm standing behind these two guys and all of a sudden, i recognize one of the guy's voices. And finally, i figure it out. It's Adam Corolla! So then we get out of the elevator, and i make some comment that we were in the elevator with Adam Corolla (!) and nobody cares. (Probably cause they've all seen him in the elevator before. But it was my first.) So it's just me. I get a little starstruck. And Adam Corolla isn't even that much of a celebrity! (Unless you're reading this, then no offense Adam, i think you're hilarious. it's those other people who don't understand. They're not cool like our kind.) I can't wait til the day i run into Jimmy Kimmel in the elevator. And then we'll strike up a conversation between those 45 seconds that it takes to get to the third floor. And then he'll know that i work right below him. And then he'll call me up one day to my direct line. And then he'll say, hey SH, how'd you like to guest star on my show? And then i'll say, sure Jimmy...anything for you. And then i'll do a few funny things on the show. And then i'll be known as "THE SH that does that funny thing," kinda like Letterman's top 10. And then soon i'll be a regular. And one day i'll find myself sitting next to M.K. and Ashley, with Coldplay as the musical guest. Yea...that would be cool. A girl can dream, can't she? Sad thing is, i was getting really into that as i typed it. I already know what my "thing" would be! My one and only true talent...
But i digress. So, back to me being star struck all the time. I can't wait until the day i don't care anymore. But the truth is, i really do! I get way too excited when i see someone that has some sort of celebrity status. And then i come and blog about it to your face! It's really quite obnoxious, don't you think? Geez, i hate those name droppers like me. But then again, this IS my blog, so i can do whatever i want! So there!
I think what fuels it ("it" being my state of being star struck dumb when i see a celebrity) is that i watch too much of those shows like eXtra. But its so hard not to when it comes right before Access Hollywood, AND when its on at the same time as ET so that when one is on a commercial break you can just switch to the other show and catch the same story again, and then AGAIN at 7:30, just in case you missed a story while jumping between the two shows earlier. Hahahaha.
Let's see...what else...
The Lakers...sad. They better get their shit together by sunday, thats all i have to say.
I made some curry tonight. I am reminded of that time i made curry and Kristin and I kept eating it for a week, lunch and dinner, until we got so sick of curry. It just wouldn't go away! We would eat and eat, but there would still be curry left. And i never learn. I always think, yum! Curry! And then i make it and end up eating it for a week. For the next week it'll be curry morning day and night. Curry as a late morning snack! Or curry blended with some fresh fruits and vegtamables for that sluggish afternoon powershake! A little curry with your five o'clock tea? Mmm..yes please! Sneaking off to the fridge for that midnight snack? How bout some curry? Curry in a bun! Curry instead of milk with your cereal!! Curry in your curry!!!
Oy...its going to be a long week.

Today i spent a good part of the day looking out the window, watching...THE OLSEN TWINS!! Man, they are so HOT. Who knew? Who's the agent that knew, when they were babies, that they would turn into 17 year old hotties that every male wants to do? Whoever that is must be living large. I mean, the twins are worth a couple billion at least.
So, i still can't tell who is who yet, even after one of them dyed her hair. The blonde had on a white dress, and the brunette (well, its more of a strawberry blonde) had on a purple backless dress. And man, they're skinny bones jones. I don't know what the fascination with twins is...all i know is i'm fascinated.
Oh yea, they were there to get their star on the hollywood walk of fame. Two girls, one star. They'll forever be known as a unit. They get more cha ching that way i guess. After they did their little speech, they took some time to pose for pictures. The kind where they touch each other! (ok ok, so they were just in a very close embrace....but i swear, they do that on purpose. oh those teases...) Anyways, then they signed some autographs in the crowd, and then sped off. Oh the life of an Olsen Twin.

So the big day has finally come and gone. Today i ran *almost* 3.1 miles! Hooray me! I had to stop and walk a bit, and also had to stop for some Funky Cole Medina (thats a given) but other than that, steve and i ran most of the way. It was such a fun event, and I'm so glad i did it. I feel like i've done enough exercise for the rest of the year! Well, ok maybe not. Whether or not i'll continue to run...well, thats a different story. I think i might though, even though i can't run far or fast, i still feel good after i do it, so i'm going to try to continue. We'll see.
I saw something (or rather, someone) rather unusual yesterday at a bus stop on Ventura. A real live cross dresser. It's not something you usually see on Ventura, at least i don't think. But there s(he) was, with her short mini skirt and long blonde hair, standing at the bus stop waiting for the bus. Rather odd, i thought. But my first! My previous encounters have just been through movies and pictures and stories and whatnot, i don't think i've ever seen one in real life. (Although back in Muir 40 my TA was a cross dresser, though i never did see him dressed other than in a nice shirt and pants until the day i actually was waiting in his office and my eyes moseyed their way to his wall where he had a few pictures of him dressed up as a woman.) It's rather interesting i must say.
So far, no one has even tried to claim my balance bar. I guess i'll have to just eat it myself.

I finally got a keyboard! All this talk of wanting a keyboard, and suddenly Merlin has one he wants to give away! Crazy eh? I now have a little instrumental section in my room now, with Kilroy, V, my harmonica, and my new keyboard! It's just what i've always wanted.
So did you know you can google your name and find all sorts of crazy information about yourself, or people who have the same name as you? Like this blog. People can find my blog by just googling my name. Is that crazy or what? So after gathering this new information, i have come to the conclusion that my reader audience may have just been bumped up from 2 to 5.5! (I count some people as halves only because i'm sure people see all my long blog entries and just end up skimming my blogs, cause really, i would too if i were you. ahem, bruckner. )
Since its already been a few days since my last stupid blunder, you're probably thinking, SH is due for one soon. Well you are right. Today i fell off the curb. I was holding a box (which wasn't gigantic, but it was still a good size) on my way to fedex, and when i saw the fedex truck, i must've gotten a bit too excited because all of a sudden, the ground and my ankle quickly made friends as i, yes, fell off the rather high curb. and, like always, this was done in front of a line of cars, waiting to turn in front of me. if only i had these kinds of audiences when i tell my jokes. i could be a touring comedian by now. the next ma-ga-let cho. but alas, my jokes aren't as funny as my blunders, which is hard to believe, I KNOW. so stay tuned, i'm sure another blunder is on its way.
Boy, if i could be a combination of Al Green and Sting, i'd be so hot i wouldn't know what to do with my hotness. Mmm...yum. Al Green and Queen both have a song that is equivalent to my national anthem (um...if i were a nation that is...the great nation of SH...cause this is MY united states of whatever). If you can guess what they are, you'll win my Balance Bar that is currently sitting on my desk! It's not just any balance bar. It's a Balance GOLD!! And its rocky road! Dood, i know what the songs are, i should just eat the bar myself. But no...i'll give you people out there a shot. email me with your guesses. 15 grams of protein are at stake here.
peace out.

Is it wierd that i currently have an urge to embody all that is Al Green? Even the small fro he's got. It would save me alot of blow drying time in the mornings.
Thing is, he is just so damn sexy. If only i was a black man. But, until i turn a few shades darker, and automatically morph into the opposite gender, I'll just have to live in his music- a smooth mellow sexy world.
Until next time, love and happiness.

Ok, so i didn't go see Mean Girls. I went to go see Hidalgo instead. I have another chance to see it at the big P later, so i'm just going to wait.
How was Hidalgo you ask? It's a man on a horse in a freaking desert. Cut to: man on horse, riding across the desert. Dissolve to: man on horse, riding across the desert. An hour later, still the same man on the same horse in the same desert. Oh yea, and theres a race involved.
BORING! So why'd I go see it, you ask? Well, i wanted to know who won the race. Because really, the title told me nothing at all.

I think something is wrong with me. Mentally.
Ok ok, before i go on i'm sure the three of you out there reading are probably making some joke about that last statement. Yea yea, ok ok. But, how do you explain a 29 year old's passion for any movie that has a couple cute teenage girls and pink and frills everywhere? It's really strange, and i can't figure it out.
Today while walking taking a coffee break with Andrew, this guy on the street stopped us, and quickly said something about "seeing a movie." Before my mentally retarded head could even process what he was saying, my eyes had already darted to the piece of paper on his clipboard. It was an advertisement from the movie, Mean Girls.....
(in my mr. moviefone voice if i had one)...MEAN GIRLS! Starring Lindsay Lohan! You might remember her from such films as The Parent Trap, or Freaky Friday! Also stars that Claudia chick from Party of Five! Written by SNL's Tina Fey! Mean Girls! Starts April 30 at a theatre near you! Rated PG13! some material may not be suitable for children under 13. Check your local listings for details.
Anyway, it was an advertisement from the movie Mean Girls, and before my head could process what the man was saying, all that was registering in my head was PINK! and CUTE GIRL! And I immediately told the man, YES I WANT TO GO! (I think he was a little taken back by my enthusiasm.)
I was so excited about getting free tickets for the movie, but at the same time, felt bad for Andrew who had to wait for me while the guy gave me the information (I also noticed that Andrew was standing a few more feet away than is usually necessary while waiting for someone. He also had his arms crossed...a sign of hostility, or embarrasment? Or a sign of hostility BECAUSE of embarrasment? Hm...hard to say...)
So, as sad as this is for a 29 year old to admit, knowing that i was going to go see this movie kinda made my afternoon. And I'm hoping that it's actually the premier for the movie and i'll get a glimpse of Lindsay in person. Yes...very very sad.
Then afterwork i come home and while making dinner saw the commercials for not 1 but 2 more pink frilly movies i want to see: The one with the Olsen Twins (yes...the twins) and the one with Jennifer Garner.
I mean really, what is wrong with me? The Olsen Twins? Why am i so compelled to see stylish clothes and a different hairstyle in every scene? Why? Its really bothersome. This must be what its like to have an addiction. You want to quit but you just can't. Maybe i should go on some program. I'm currently on the step that's in the middle of denial and acceptance. Because really, who can turn down twins? Not I said the fly.
In other news, all this running i'm doing (which is not much i tell ya) is making my appetite gi-normous! I feel like i can't stop eating. And, oddly enough, i feel like i spend more time eating than running! Which just doesn't add up. Oh and btw: sonya thomas is my new heroine. I only wish i had cnn or animal planet to watch her in action in the coming months. Damn that cable!
I shake my fist in fury at thee.

I have decided to start telling people (when they ask me) that I am actually 29 years old. And when they shoot me that "you're fucking with me aren't you?" look, i'm just going to sympathize with them and tell them, "I know, i look like i'm 19!" and be really pissed about it, and then blame it on my asian heritage! I've got the whole act down, you should see it, its totally believable. If you read this then i guess you're in on my secret, and the cats out of the bag. But if you read this, you're likely one of three who already knows how old i am, so it really doesn't matter right?
So i was at the bookstore with steve the other day buying a magazine when the lady handed me my change. I quickly glanced at my quarters and saw that in my pile of change, i had a michigan! And stupidly i yelled out "MICHIGAN!" a little too loudly only to realize too late that i'm suppose to be yelling out stuff like this INSIDE my head, not outside. The lady chuckled at me, i tried to make a joke of it, and was quickly escorted out by steve, who, being the good sport he is, is still my friend despite my embarrassing outbursts.
To the other Borders customers who heard me while waiting in line that afternoon: don't judge me. I could've been buying a football book and was conversing with the cashier about who my favorite team was. "GO MICHIGAN!" i like to yell from time to time. Or maybe state quarters are just really cool and half of my collectors map is almost filled up. YOU DECIDE.
OMG. It just doesn't stop. I did a really stupid thing the other day. And i'm almost reluctant to blog about it, except remember, i'm a really generous person who publicly admits their own stupidity to make their fellow citizens look good. Damn right thats what i do!
Ok so one day after work, i was taking the escalators down to the garage. And i do this almost everyday so i dont' see why this day was any different. I actually "walk" the escalators, i don't just take them. So i go down one flight of escalators. And then another. And at the third flight, it took me a couple seconds to realize i wasn't going towards my desired direction, which is DOWN. And all of a sudden i lost my balance and had to use the side handles. It took me a couple more seconds to finally realize that i was trying to go down the UP escalators! OY. Have you heard of such a thing? Cause i sure haven't...until i did it. That was bad enough. But i was about a feet away from a guy on his cell phone, who must've been blind not to see my blunder. And then two guys were on their way up using, of course, the UP escalator, and they must've seen me too, cause i briefly heard one guy say "something something something stupid something" to the other guy. NOT TO MENTION the people that were behind me when i was going down the down escalator in the right direction, and then ending up behind them because yes, i went down the UP escalator.
It was a confusing couple seconds for me. And to those escalator people who judge me: i say to them "yea...i would judge me too."
Do you think i can pass for a 29 year old who was just "playing" around on the escalators?
So i was at the bookstore with steve the other day buying a magazine when the lady handed me my change. I quickly glanced at my quarters and saw that in my pile of change, i had a michigan! And stupidly i yelled out "MICHIGAN!" a little too loudly only to realize too late that i'm suppose to be yelling out stuff like this INSIDE my head, not outside. The lady chuckled at me, i tried to make a joke of it, and was quickly escorted out by steve, who, being the good sport he is, is still my friend despite my embarrassing outbursts.

Hello party people.
It's been a while, did you miss me? I know i know, i'm way behind on my blogs, but i've just been so incredibly busy lately. Hopefully me getting back on the blog again will encourage the others to do the same. You know who you are.
So the SH is running. I've decided to do the Nike Run Hit Wonder in three weeks. 5k. Now you may be thinking, 5k is nothing. Well, its a huge deal for me. I DO NOT RUN. AT ALL. So it'll be quite a challenge. Hopefully i can do it and not die. I know 3 miles isn't alot, but its like running a marathon to me. Wish me luck.

That's it!!! I can't take it anymore! I've been having a craving to shop for like, forever now, and tomorrow by golly, i'm going shopping! ...i think.
I get so happy for people when i hear that they're happy and excited about something. It just makes me happy, as cheesy as that sounds. And it also makes me think that if i hang around them long enough, that the goodluck will rub off on me. Not that i have much to complain about really, but a little goodluck here and there doesn't hurt right? But, its not all about goodluck. I know my friends work hard to get where they're at, so i'm glad all their hardwork is paying off.
This is all caused by the season known as spring. People are happier, clothes are cuter. Or...maybe people are happier BECAUSE clothes are cuter and oh so pastel? Hm...perhaps. Damn, that means summer is coming soon. And if things are going this well for people now, and clothes are that cute, imagine what the summer will bring. Oh dear....I better go prepare with a bag over my head.
Ok, i'm off to do something productive now. Not to say that blogs aren't productive....

So my magical bag of cotton balls is no longer.
Turns out, there were 100 more than i thought. So, they weren't reproducing magically. And just the other day, i used the last cotton ball, and now i have a brand new bag. I'm sad. It was nice thinking that i had a magical bag of cotton that just reproduced on its own.
So now, i'd like to take this time to say hello to everyone out there that i haven't talked to in a while. There's alot of you out there. Hello. I hope you're all doing well and taking care, and hopefully i'll talk to y'all soon.

Dang it. Trying to pick a hobby is so hard. Every hobby is so expensive. Or, it gets to be. See, i hate when people ask me what i like to do. Because really, i do alot to take up my time, but, i'm not doing much at all. In 5th grade i said rollerblading. But i probably haven't touched it since. And someone pointed out that reading is a hobby, but who wants to say they read as a hobby (no offense to fellow readers out there)? That seems so boring. I mean, i do it enough where it would be considered a hobby, and i enjoy it, but...it just doesn't seem as exciting as mountain biking or snowboarding or karate-ing. So i've been looking into these more exciting hobbies to take up, but they all just seem a bit expensive. I haven't saved up enough yet to start doing these hobbies. I mean, i just got invited to go snowboarding today, and how fun would that be, except i have no equipment and lift tickets and lodging would be a bit pricey. So currently, i'm looking into bikes. I would like a nice beach cruiser, painted a nice shade of orange, or mint green, like missy's. But then you can't really take beach cruisers on long and arduous rides...so it'll have to be a mt. bike. I looked into them, and they're a bit pricey for good ones. I should really talk to angel about this. See, the thing is, i want to find a hobby that actually gets me outside, problem is, i'm not exactly the athletic type. Oh how i wish i was. So pez and sugar packet collecting will do me no good no more. Someone help me find my new non expensive yet sporty hobby!
PS-running is no good.
PPS-neither is soccer, so forget it.
PPPS-speaking of reading, i just realized i have too many books lined up and no time to read any of it! boo.

It's raining, it's pouring...
So it turns out that Eph IS the lead singer of Maroon 5. Or so he says on his...NEW BLOG! You think people give up on blogging, but then they come bouncing back again, and claim to be people they're not! Hooray for liars that blog! I can't get your schedules straight people! Sometimes you blog, sometimes you don't. C'mon, make up your mind! Who do you think you are, me??
So they've been setting up for the oscars all week, and its pissing me off. They closed down hollywood blvd, and so it takes forever to get to the parking lot, and i have to walk around the street so i don't step on their precious red carpet thats actually pink. Carpet schmarpet. It's all getting wet right now anyways. Even if they did put plastic over it.
Boy, do i sound bitter tonight or what? You know what that means....time to go have some sweets to counteract the bitterness. Wheeeeee!

And we're back.
Thanks for joining us. Today we're going to answer some of those tough questions we left off with last time.
After some research, it has been discovered that Ephraim is not secretly the lead singer of Maroon 5. That title goes to Adam Levine, who, Saturday night on SNL, bared such a resemblance to ephraim that i thought maybe...just maybe Ephraim is leading a double life. But upon closer inspection on their website, Adam looks nothing like Eph, nor does Eph look anything like Adam. The only thing they both have in common is a high sexy quotient. Dammit. No rockstar friend for me.
I still haven't figured out that M3 commercial...will someone please explain it to me?
And yes....i believe it is high time to get my ears pierced. Who's with me?
Speaking of Maroon 5...they are like the Jude Law of rock: slowly climbing their way up my affection ladder. Never thought much of them on the radio, but seeing them live on snl has given me reason to change my mind. And plus, they're just a sexy band. :-)
Hooray for sexiness! Hooray for maroon 5!
